Been up for a day in the Dales. I wrote the next bit earlier, but had no
signal to send it. "Felix, Jay and I are sitting on the banks of a little
fishing hole in Kilnsey with Dave, Snoozy, Seaster and Jamie. having the
**** ripped out of me for geeking out. Sun is shining, fish are jumping."
Just outside Grassington now, about to drive back to Harrogate. The wee
men in the back should be fast asleep by then ;)

What a fantastic Birthday I had ! Thanks to everyone - especially those who got me prezzys, cards or food !
New slippers, Set of Tablas, single malt, a sheep, espresso pot, chocolate, 20 Marlboro - what a cool list :o)
Yesterday was great at work. I was met my mum, Eirene and the kids and we went to the local cafe - Simon Giles and a few others were there as well.. Eirene embarrassed me by getting the cafe owners to bring out a cake, with sparklers in ! (I was sure the fire detectors were going to go off!). Wore my slippers round work for most of the afternoon. Got home, and went to the orchid for a v.nice meal, followed by a couple of pints of TT Landlord at the Bell Inn. Superb. They can't get much better than that.

And another thing...
I saw the sea today. On the A19, on the way up to Newcastle. Steely flat and calm. And big. It's an event for me to see the sea you see.

What a crazy few days - it's been a fantastic weekend. Friday night - stayed in, had a quite one. Saturday, we went to Leeds and Eirene and the kids allowed me to choose my Birthday present (tomorrow!) from one of my favorite shops in the whole world knock on wood. Always liked the the idea of and sound of Tablas. I had a go on a friends set of tablas at womad, and thought... yea - I could get into this. It's a very long journey, and a lot to learn, but that's part of the enjoyment - the learning. I've got quite a healthy collection of percussive instruments now -= tablas, congas, bongo's and a few other bits and bobs. So - Saturday, thru till today has featured quite a lot of tabla talcum powder action, interrupted by cabbage on Saturday night - always a top time. Full on club, "leave your ego at the door" kind of place, great time. Got in around 05:00 (well - it was my prior to Birthday weekend!) and nattered for a few hours, to be joined by Felix and Jaygo at around 07:30 Sunday morning. Got some sleep later on in the morning, and woke up surprisingly feeling fine at about 13:00 Sunday afternoon. So then, we went to the Chinese State Circus ! - this was a fantastic spectacle, and a 2000 year old tradition. An amazingly polished routine of everything from kung fu, to Chinese Dragons, to spinning plates, acrobatics and bungee trapeze. The colour and moment were superb - there were people doing the most amazing things - Sheffield is the next venue - I can highly recommend it.
Anyway - it's Tuesday night now, and I'm going home for a pre birthday beer or 2.

It's been non stop. Sleeping is cheating.
Friday night, I had a gig. A private party, to someone with a shed load of cash. (for those who don't know, I occasionally play a bit of congas and bongos alongside DJ's.) Had a massive PA set up on a marquee. great lights, and fully supported by engineer (Al) and desk op (Blake), and I was in turn, supporting the maestro Paul Q on the decks. Got loads of nice free scran and beer early doors from canopy offering waitresses and a shooter boy. It was a birthday party, and I think one of the gifts for birthday girl was a bunny boy half naked bloke with a holster carrying 2 bottles of tequila and a load of shooter glasses round him, topped off with bunny ears and bunny tail and that's about it. got a bit messy, got in at about 5:00 am.
Saturday morning, 9:00am onwards we set off for North Berwick (pics here soon). Broke down in Humbrum, but not very badly - fantastic service form the good old AA breakdown service. Back on the road. got to North Berwick in Scotland. Got there and was greeted by what has over the last 3 visits started to tur into one of my favourite places in the world. A blissed, blessed flat, overlooking enchanted beach. Already filled with some of my best friends on the world. Dave, however, perhaps felt slightly differently for a whole after I announced that I had dented his brand new car. oops. , I had a couple hours kip, before going out for a few beers down the local, and a few games of pool. Got some chips on the way home. Quite a lot of chips, and some fish. also went to the off licence, where Ben nearly got us into a scrape, by saying "let Herman Munster in first".... "HERMANN MUNSTER AM I NOW !" Questioned the 7'3" Neanderthal. Situation swiftly diffused by Mark "Ignore him mate - he's a ****** " Anyway - went back to the flat and parties till Wrong O'Clock. Slept till 5, pottered about, watched the fantastic view for a few hours. Had one of the funniest moments of the weekend.. A young lad, must have been about 8 decided to go for a discreet wee on the beach. Carefully he surveyed the scene, and failed to notice about 8 people staring in his direction out of a window 15m away. Got his todger out and started peeing on the beach - carefully keeping an eye over his shoulder whilst his parents carried on walking down the beach. Subtle Mark knocked on the window to attract the lads attention. Poor chap! 8 nutters cheering and laughing at his expense. He will never recover. His parents were desperately trying to disguise their own muffled roar of a laugh from him, as he hurriedly, self consciously, tried to catch them up on the beach. Later, the remaining few went out for a meal in the local bistro (MMMmmmm - top nosh!) Supreme chicken on Haggis mash. Yes. Everyone else had skink broth. also - v.good. Set off after the meal and got in for about 1:20. slept.
MondayGot up, went to work, came home to work for the rest of the day. Had pretty much all of the NB crew round for dinner - Chris Rhino cooked up a storm - nearly a whole Yorkshire lamb, with all the trimmings. Fantastico. Slept.
TuesdayGot up, went to work, meeting, went to Huddersfield, meeting, came back to work, went to Birstall (Leeds, Wakefield area) - meeting, came back to work - meeting. Went for a swift pint with Les, came home. Typed a blog, whilst eating egg beans and chips. Food rules. Missing Felix, who is on holiday in Devon with GranmaBampa.

Life since last entry: Tuesday - nowt much, Wednesday - ditto, apart from a trip out to (Near) Scarborough on a work mission. Wednesday (yesterday) a big party to Celebrate Tina's Birthday. That was cool. We had a Casino theme in the Dining room, Big Casino (nearly spelt it Casio then.. watchcan junkie) sign in the entrance, with fairy lights around it. We sent out the invites, without Tina knowing to most of Tina's favourite people, asking them to Dress Casino. Roulette Table, Card table, chips. Lots to drink, and some Bossa Mundo, Música Feliz De Brasil on the Stereo. Happy fun night. Tina got a scooter and we all got sparklers.
Getting set for a day at the office tomorrow, doing a gig tomorrow night, and then up to Scotland at the weekend.

Fantastic ! - The DragonDrop Forum is being used, and it's already morphing and mutating down several very interesting lines of direction. The watchcam stuff is really interesting - I hope Casio are watching (may even give them a prod in a couple of weeks)
Ronin posted this picture. I had to share. If you have not done so already, stick your head round the forum door.

"Punk Kittens"
Someone sent me an email with a subject of 'PUNK KITTENS THEY ROCK' linked to this. It made me chuckle.
That's perhaps the most interesting thing I've seen in a couple of days. I've been to Leeds this morning. (Not very interesting), and around all the heavy pile of work I've been dealing with, I've been putting together a forum for DragonDrop. It's not quite ready to go live just yet. Perhaps it never will be, But of course, I'll let you know if it does.
update-just been rooting round the root of the above site. There's some funny stuff in there. The best - Chicken.

Superb fun packed weekend.
Friday - Went out with Luke round Chiswick. That was a bit of a larf. Went to a put that he claims in "one of the best pints of Stella in London" The pelican in wandsworth (As far as I can remember). Don't know why I've shifted onto Stella by the way. Maybe I'll get back onto the Guinness for the winter.
Saturday - met up with Eirene and the kids at Kings Cross (I can now well understand why he's cross with all the new development going on round there) with the mission of going to her Uncle Johns and Aunty Pat's for a big family re-union / bbq / celebration of Tristans 21st / celebration of James passing his exams. Any of the above would have been a good excuse for a party, but all together gave extra reason for a mass celebration. They had really pulled out all of the stops, including the making of a bar with actual taps of beer and lager. Very nice.
Sunday - Went to Stonehenge. Always wanted to go there. It's amazing to think that these massive blocks of stone were erected without the use of a single JCB / crane / low loader - no even little ones. Some of the blocks came from Wales. Interesting vibe at the place. Not as magical / mystical as I'd perhaps anticipated, due to the fact it was disneyfied ever so slightly by the barriers, the electronic guided tours and the high volume of tourists. What did I expect though - a load of naked witches dancing round a sacrificial lamb ? Out of season anyway. Superb though. Also interesting were the burial grounds, dotted around the surrounding countryside. Once pointed out, these 'mounds' are to be seen all over the place. I tried my best to imagine seeing these things 4000 years ago(when they were built). It must have been such a known event. Everyone in the country must have heard of it. Awe inspiring stuff. There are plans to re-route the main roads near the place and move the visitor centre away from the site, so that a 4000 acre plot of land will be left untouched, as it was intended. This plan gets 2 thumbs fresh from all at DragonDrop.
Watchcam Photo's from the weekend will be online soon. (watch this space)
