On Saturday, DragonDrop.org is going to be one year old. We thought a little party was in order. Mostly populated by the forum members, but all friends of DragonDrop are welcome. I will be asking the door staff to only let people in if they have a DragonDrop ticket (above), a DragonDrop card, or a DragonDrop T-Shirt. Hope to see you there

An interesting weekend. Friday night, I did a gig with DJ Dharma down the stalls bar in Harrogate. This went well, and we had a good time. It filled up around 10, and by 12 it was a right proper party.
Saturday, we bimbled about and had a lazy day. Saturday night, we had the option of going to cabbage, and going to a dub night down the Harrogate Arms, but declined both in favor or a quiet night in.
Sunday was mothers day, and I made Eirene breakfast in bed. We forgot that the clocks has gone forward, so it threw our day out a bit ! we went to Shipley in the camper, followed by a nice feed round at mums house.
Last night, we got loads of junk food in and watched 24. How cool was last night's episode !
So today - it's a sunny day, and all I really want to do is go and play in a field for the day! The idea of sitting someplace chill, with a phone, and a laptop sounds quite appealing. I could still 'work'. My battery would only last a short while though. But the idea is a good one!

hello world back again ;) We have had a great day today. The weather is so good too good to be inside for (one of the perks of being a house mum). Had a writers forum Mexican evening last night . It was splendid with lots of wine imbibed in true writing fashion (for inspiration I'm sure) and the food was great. Lots of meat and the best homemade guacamole. Not by me unfortunately (although I did spy and get the recipe). Today Jaygo and I again went to the toy library. It is so good to be able to borrow toys that would due to either price or size be ordinarily unobtainable. We picked up a Brio water feature. It consists of a water track and lots of boats. Fantastic once you get it set up if you can get it set up. So three adults later a lot of frustration and viola happy wet children. We are supposed to try the toys not the other way round.
Ciao ;)

So where have I been since last blog ? Tuesday, Drove to Birmingham, and back, and the same again today. On the far side of worn out now, and apart from that, not much to report. One of the highlights of my day was a discovery at Donnington Park services. It was sunny, so I took my coffee and cake outside, where I notices a peaceful little picnic area. I noticed a small pond at the back of this. I wandered over to discover it was stocked with hundreds of goldfish and coi. I shared my croissant with them at sundown.
Rachel from the Theatre came round tonight and reminded me that I had a gig there (Stalls bar) this Friday with the one and only Dharma. Should be a good night. Come along ! For those of you who are coming to the DragonDrop 1st birthday party, I have secured a nice little venue.... and have ordered a fresh batch of DD t - shirts ! If you don't know about it... try to keep up ;o) Read the "Dear All" post below.

A great weekends has been had. The weather was superb. Proper warmth and strong sunlight. We decided to go camping with Sean and his son Arron. Had to fix Humbrum on the Saturday - fixed a great big aerial and a new fuel line. We went to Flamborough and stayed in a friends field. Flamborough is the nose on the face profile shape on the side of England ! Top time. We had a nice fire going, the field had an old tractor in it and loads of other bits and pieces which kept the kids really happy!. Discovered a new "must have" camper accessory. WD40 - good for squeaks and metal sticky things, (naturally - that's what it was invented for) but also great for creating instant fires. I built a little fire, got a couple of bits of paper alight under the wood, then spray it with WD40 - Instant fire ! (DragonDrop.org does not endorse such action and recommends that you do not do this!). and In absolute contrast, from the smelling of smoke, falling asleep to the sound of the sea, in a camper and ripped old cloths, to today - I was in London, suited and booted. Quite tired now, so I'm going to bed. Tomorrow I've got another busy city day in the Midlands.
It's good to see that Salam (Where is Raed blog author) has come through the heavy shelling of Baghdad over the weekend. He had an article in the Guardian today.
Anyway - My bed is calling me !

So - The ground war has just kicked off. It's all happening very quickly.
I'm checking out loads of sources for the latest. The internet is suffering 'brown out' due to the amount of people who are trying to get info from it. The BBC reports on this here.
Here are some news sources to keep track of what what with

Hmm - so - good response on the party 1 by the way (see the 'dear all' posting below).
Watchcam gone !
Yes - I have had to send my watchcam back to casio to get mended ! (or replaced, I'm hoping!). The infra red stopped working. It would be nice to get a shiny new one with no scratches.
Mind you - sentimental value is quite high on that watch ! It's been to Australia with me, and all over the UK. If you could see the stuff that that watch has seen... oh... you have done. If I do get a new one, you (and I) will not be able to see the amazing looking shots I took at Almscliffe Crag last weekend. Cows in the sunset and stuff like that. Ahh well.
I'm hoping that a new model comes out this year. I've heard no rumours on that yet, but they generally come out around September. A low light feature would be just the jolly jimbo. Perhaps a bluetooth model would be good as well!
Right - enough pseudo lunch 5 minutes and back to work. I'm so busy at the moment.

Dear All...
DragonDrop is nearly 1 year old!
The official start date (the first blog entry) was the 5th of April, 2002. (Although it has been running a bit longer)
I think this should be celebrated and calls for a first birthday party for all friends of DragonDrop.org !
Can I get a show of hands, of who would like to come to this ?
It will be a free party, someplace in Harrogate on Saturday the 5th of April.
If you would be interested in attending, please send an email to party1@dragondrop.org and I'll keep you in the loop.
Hope to see you there !
Regards,
Matt

Humbrum is back. Fully operational with a battery beautifully fitted by da Matthew. We took her for a run up to 'Great Alms Cliff. It has been such great weather and with the sun shining on our faces we sat on top of her and drank tea before scaling the rock and watching a spectacular sunset from the summit. Pure pleasure. Such moments should be collected at every opportunity.Saw some fantastic climbing. The climb had lots of traversing hand jams and plenty of nimble footedness. What made it even more amazing is that the climber had just completed a 70 mile cycle ride. Back home, bebe asleep, eating nachos and looking forward to 24 tonight ;)

It's a really nice day in Harrogate today. The sun is shining and it's not cold!
Took my power kite of for a bit of a blast yesterday. It's been a while.
Mine is like the middle one in the main pic
Click here for flexifoil.com (manufacturer of said kite)
Bernie came out with his and we stacked them. (the pic above shows a stack of 3)
We even had a go at kite fighting.
Chris managed to ditch it into a bush springboarding the phrase "A kite in the hand is worth two in the bush"
Last night, Eirene and I went for dinner round at Al's. 4 of us, Anna, Al and us. Al is a top chef. We had salmon with asparagus and stuff.
Today we have the opportunity to be without both the kids ! - Felix is still in Scotland and Neese said she would take Jaygo off our hands for the afternoon. Not quite sure what we are going to end up doing. Tate in Liverpool is an option..... we shall see !

What a busy few days it's been. (surprise surprise). Went to Sherbern near Scarborough yesterday. A nice drive out on the A64. picked up a really interesting hitcher. He was a plaiter. (Plaiters are people who shuffle cars around between car dealerships - they hitch to garage a, and drive the car to garage b.They are called 'plaiters' because they carry round a temporary reg plate that they stick on the back of the car) He told me that he was in his former life in financial services, on a fair old whack of cash, but jacked it in, to do this ! He loves it - I can see why - the stress free, adventure driven lifestyle sounds cool. As he put it "I get paid for basically listening to the radio, and meeting new people, seeing the country and driving nice cars." (or words to that effect.)
Had to say goodbye to Felix for the next 8 days this morning ! He's gone to Scotland with his grandparents for the week. (lucky boy!)
I got a parking ticket this morning. Rats. Went to Guisley today. Not sure what the weekend holds. Been invited to a Turner exhibition in Sheffield and a moving in party. We shall see !
Got sent a few links this week - these two stood out..
This is a very COOL mobile phone.. urm.. system (thanks to Dodge for that one)
This is a very addictive little game (thanks to Roler G for that one)
have a good weekend !

What a couple of days I have just had. I was in Leeds first thing, on Monday morning, followed by a trip to Birmingham. Stayed at the Holiday Inn, downtown Birmingham, and had a great view across the city sky scrape (took a quick watch cam shot). Went for a wander round, and discovered a sculpture by Antony Gormley (a British artist who I have always admired) called "Iron Man" that looks very similar to his Angel of the North (up in Gateshead) - but without the wings. My favorite thing that he did (photo's Pic Pic Pic Pic) was a room with about 40,000 terracotta figures, staring at you. They were really simple 'schmoo' shaped things with deep sunk eyes. Each hand crafted. It was quite eery. I saw these a few moons ago at the Tate in Liverpool, and they have recently had a show at the British Musium (thanks for the links Simon!)
So - Yesterday, I had an 0830 appointment, then an 11:00, the a 14:00, then a 16:00. My car decided to break down here. The RAC man arrived super quick, giving me just enough time to make friends with some horses. The RAC man said there was nothing he could do from there, and arranged a tow. I canceled my meetings for the rest of the day, and got a lift home in a big tow truck. Car is now with the garage, who are going to get back to me with what's up!.

Phew - managed to fix DragonDrop. I was trying to tidy up the side bar, and get rid of a load of old stuff and put in a new search box - also put in a link to FARK, because I thought they deserved on! - A fantastic news wire style site - apparently, it's where the metro newspaper get a lot of their scoops! . The search box is now live and allows you to search DragonDrop or, the actual Internet.

Had a nice curry last night with a mate from work. And a few beers. Went to Stockport today. Didn't get to see the fair town itself, as I was in a trading estate. Went through Oldham, and got a bit lost. Me and my sneaky shortcuts. Nasty traffic through Leeds, and horrific weather on the M62. Wipers on super fast mode most of the way. The M62 is England's highest motorway. Got back this afternoon, and had to visit a local company at the other end of the estate. Got to walk through the woods near their offices. That was nice. Getting away from the noise of cars. Right - back to wrapping up for the day.

A very busy weekend. Chris's birthday. So - Friday - went out for a couple of beers after work, and was going to have a quiet one, in readiness for a large on on Saturday. Ended up going out with Chris on Friday, and bumped into Bongo and a few others. Ended up with me, Chris and Bongo playing cards at his house till wrong o'clock in the morning. Saturday.. Had a bit of kip, then went to pick up Ez (our babysitter) got the Monty's (bar) for about 20:00. Hung out there and had a few silly cocktails. The original plan was to head into Leeds, but as the pubs were drawing to a close, the Leeds plan was decided against, so we scooped up a load of people from the Blues bar (inc. Brett - Hello Brett!) and went to Poo Naa Naa's. Had a great night. Loads of chatting, and a bit of dancing.(and oh yea, a bit of drinking)
Sunday, I drove out to Bradford, to get Jaygo some news shoes (at one of them factory outlet type places). In the afternoon Felix and Jaygo went of to Grandma and Bampa's for the afternoon. Went to the Retreat bar to watch Liverpool play Manchester United in the Worthington cup final. It was Chris's actual birthday, and he's a Liverpool fan - so their 2-0 victory topped of the day quite nicely. Had a few people pop back to ours last night, so missed the BBC3 24. Luckily I saw this weeks BBC2 edition on BBC3 last week. Today, feeling not as rough as I should do, pottering about the office - lots of mopping up type jobs to do, and tomorrow I'm off to Stockport. So there !
