Many thanks indeed to Nick Button for solving the DD dodgy template saga. It's all sorted now.
Not sure what the root cause was, but he managed to do exactly the same thing via his work connection, that I could not do from my home (NTL 512k Broadband) connection. If anyone has heard of this problem before, please let me know about it !

SO - aside from rant rant rave rave about the state of blogger, I have had some time to do other things - like work, rest and play. Went to the VIP opening of a new club in Harrogate last night called "Time". Quite nice - it's apparently had a £1m re-fit. They had a conga / bongo player on "Steve Bongo". Nice chap - we had a bit of a natter and he let me have a go on his kit - the same set up as mine (set of bongo's and a set of conga's). His kit sounded really smooth and natural.
Today, Chris is going to Amsterdam. Lucky chap. I think I'm due another trip out there soon. Last time was a real blast. One of the best weekends of my life. I miss the place - having lived there for a year and all that. It's home from home. Yep. A large one in Amsterdam is required.

Still got problems with the template for DragonDrop. The problem seems to be with blogger.com - the content managment engine I use to publish content to this site. It will not accept the template that I have created - what is more, it will not accept the back up of the old one.
It feels like they have changed something - has anyone else had blog probs ?

Last night I did my regular Sunday night spot at Bar Med - The Sunday Sessions.
It was our busiest night, since we have been downstairs and it rocked. 300+ people in there. I know I'm biased, but I think it's turning into one of the best nights around - well worth a look. The only problem is that it's on Sunday - so it makes the start of the week a bit harder to get off the ground. Still - managed to get a good days work done today. Now I'm going to splat in front of the telly, because I have not done that in ages.

Yesterday afternoon, Eirene, Vicky, Mark, Dave, Holly, Felix, Jaygo and I went out to the wonderful little pub called the Gardeners Arms at the bottom of Bilton.
We were out for a Leo Sayer (All dayer !). The place was great - a little river at the bottom of the beer garden meant that the boys were well happy (and wet and muddy!). It we had a jungle was great stomping about in a little beck. The beer went down very nicely, and at £1.22 and the sun shining, there was little that would have dragged us away.
So - last night - we all chipped in and got a load of food and beer and that, and got a bit wrecked. A lot wrecked in fact. Proper Laugh. Shambon.
Here is a rather 'blury but I like' shot of Mark, in a DD shirt.

Well - the cows got it right.
My money was on Steph - who made it to the last day, but - I should have listened to the cows, and the bookies who both got it right (what's all this cow talk ? read here) On reflection - big brother was not quite as addictive and captivating this year, as the years before. Is it loosing it's sparkle ? Is the format getting a bit long in the tooth now? The contestants seemed to have a much easier time this year - they seemed less scarred by the whole thing - not like last year with 'the bars' and extreme rationing and division.
Anyway.. It's only a game show, only a game show, it's only a game show, it's.....

Fair to middling week. Got some cool stuff done. Have hardly been outside. I am becoming one with my machines. (moo haa haa). Went out last night with Al Smyth. Good night out.
Looking through my phone pics from last night I found this -
Today it's mums birthday - Happy birthday mum !
Going out for dinner late afternoon with the whole family.
Not sure what's happening this weekend - may have an old friend coming over, and we may go to see Rosy and Jim (Kids program characters - they live on a barge) who are over in Skipton.

A fun packed weekend. Went out on Friday night with Eirene - Les joined us at the Bell Tavern and introduced us to a wonderful ale - Roosters. After a couple of them and a TT's Landlord, we were joined by Lisa and Dean. We hung out there for a bit then went to Bar Med. Friday night is tacky DJ night. Saturday night - they have some R&B and Sunday night. as depicted on the new flyers that we found on the table in front of us. The flip side advertises our night - The Sunday Sessions :
Rather nice thought we.
So I'll be Matt da Conga then. Glad someone has made that decision - I've been using 'le' , 'la' , 'de' and 'da' Conga for some time - pinned down nicely.
So - Saturday night - did a really fun gig with Dharma at the Stalls bar. A good turn out.
Sunday - went to the Harrogate Fiesta. A nice sunny afternoon in the park. A couple of thousand people must have been there to see the snippets of music from the main stage. The highlight of the musical day for me was the band "Tetrafide". An amazing percussion 4 piece from Perth, Australia. They were amazing - technically. The music they selected was really good - very accessible percussion - including a Polynesian set using log drums - this was hair sticking up on the back of the neck stuff. They played percussion from all over the world. We had a good Djembe and Doumbeck session before the next act came on - Bollywood Brass Band. Not really my thing, but performed admirably. So - the same thing happened last year - just as we were getting into it, it finished. It still comes across as a massive waste to put on this stage for about 4 hours 5 minutes of music. Why not play stuff later into the evening ? why not play stuff on Saturday ? Why not use local talent to 'pad it out' a bit ?
Spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to get my drums out of the Stalls bar - no one in Harrogate had keys for the theatre ! Anyway - ended up borrowing a set of bongo's to do last nights gig at Bar Med with Mike H and Les. An interesting night it was - not as busy as last week, but still an interesting evening.

What a weekend. Very busy. After Friday’s gig, I went on to do another on Saturday with Paul Quinlan and his crew. I love his style – really interesting and he’s not afraid to play stuff that he likes. That went on till about 1am. After that, a short excursion to Po Na Naa’s where I somehow got in the middle of a fight. I was trying to calm it down when it started kicking off but some people are animals, and once they want to hit people, they are going to stop at nothing to hit people. I avoided all blows luckily. I hate fighting. So after that, a few of us started a party round at Paul’s house. This went on until the wee hours when I came home for some kip.
Yesterday the weather was fantastic, and we went to an event called “Party in the Park” in the Valley Gardens – a beautiful park just outside the town centre of Harrogate. The event was extreme mainstream, but there were a few bits and pieces to involve the kids with for the afternoon. I ended up falling asleep in the sun in the park, and, let sleeping dogs lie thought everyone else and I woke up at around 8pm, slightly cold and confused! Next week the Valley Gardens hosts the ‘Harrogate Fiesta’. Loyal DragonDrop readers may recall the slaying I gave it last year. I’ve just had a read thru – amused myself !
I digress. Last night I did another gig – the 3rd consecutive night. 3 in a row is a record for me. I appeared at the “Sunday Sessions” (every Sunday in the VIP bar of Bar Med, Harrogate) which I was rather hoping would be a slightly more mellow affair. Was it ? Was it not. A full on party it turned out to be. The 12:30am finish turned into a 1:50am finish fueled by the crowd, the staff, the crew, even the managers enthusiasm - everyone was leaping about like mountain goats on a hotplate.
So – it’s Monday now, and back to one of the other facets of my life – ‘work’. This self employed / setting up a company thing is cool. Doing my own thing and getting into the ‘hands on side of things’ again is enjoyable and rewarding. I’ve stacked up a nice pile of work for myself – one of the reasons the blog frequency has calmed down a bit! More time with the family is fantastic. More time to play my drums and do parties is also a bonus. More time to play with computers and gadgets etc. – perhaps sad, but to me – fun!. I’ve Missed music, missed geeking out and missed family. I’ve got back into living!

Did a gig last night. Quite interesting. It's a hot day out there. Was going to go out and get a new print cartridge but I think Eirene is going to get it now. Life's exciting today ;o) !
It's Ikkles birthday today and she's planning some elaborate drinking game. I've been invited to do a gig - not sure if I'll make it because as yet, a babysitter has not been found. Felix is playing on the ceebebies website, and Jaygo has found a new game of standing on my feet. I think we are all heading out for Tapas at about 3pm for Ickles birtrhday. Yum Yum.

Yesterday was Jaygo's 2nd birthday. He's at the age now when he understands that it's a special day - and it's special for him. He got a nice spread of gifts - he seems to like them all. Noisy gifts (huraah!) wearable gifts (cute!) play in, on and with gifts (wow, ahh, I see!). One of the gifts was a massive inflatable ball pool thing. That was the focus of the day for the little people.
A rolling party took place from mid afternoon onwards. Relatives during the day, and at about 6pm we cranked up the BBQ. Snags, burgers, chops, goujons and loads of other tasty bits. I was good to see Mark and Vicky last night who we have not seen for months. They did Glastonbury so we had loads of stories to swap.
Doing a gig tonight, which I'm just about to go and set up. It's a private party, for someone's 30th. Tomorrow I've been invited to do another gig (not sure if I'll do that), and Sunday - it's the Bar Med 'Sunday Sessions' gig - this is starting to take off in a nice way. It's always very quiet early doors, then it gets rammed at almost exactly 11:00 pm. There were about 90 people down there last week - hope more come early this week (hint hint!)

A splendid night was had by all last night at Simon and Emma's wedding celebrating do last night. It was really nice to catch up with everyone from (my old) work, and drink a little, dance a little.. etc. Simon and Emma look uber happy - We wish them all the best!
This afternoon we are going to the The Forbidden Corner . We have heard so many excellent reports about this place - it's about time we investigated ourselves. It's also the place that Simon proposed to Emma !

So - I've now upgraded both machines to XP (about time really) and I have tried to sort out the network - not to hard yet - but still there is problems. I'm hoping that the problems go soon so that I can get on with some work again !
Anyway - apart from very dull computer problems, I've had a pretty nice few days. We have just been out tonight - Monty's , kebab house and home.
Came home to hear about the security alert for Big Brother. Apparently, there has been a bomb scare and they have evacuated the housemates to another place !
There is some good stuff in here - http://bigbrother.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds4679.html
Happy 4th of July by the way.

SO - since my last blog, I have been mainly growling at computers trying to get rid of the virus. Touch wood - it's now gone, and I have not lost anything. It's set me back about 4 working days - something that's not so handy when you are trying to set up a company!

Nasty - I've got a virus charging round both my machines. It's a nimda worm variant (a G variant)
Here is some info on it's older brother - the A variant...
"W32.Nimda.A@mm is a mass-mailing worm that utilizes multiple methods to spread itself. The name of the virus came from the reversed spelling of "admin". The worm sends itself out by email, searches for open network shares, attempts to copy itself to unpatched or already vulnerable Microsoft IIS web servers, and is a virus infecting both local files and files on remote network shares. " (Symantec)
SO in other words - it breeds, spreads and makes a real mess. My machine is running like an old 486, and my network is crippled - error pop ups all over the place.. I'm hoping that I don't have to re-format everything. It's set me back a few days.
Apart from this trouble - life is cool ! Went to see osymyso in Leeds on Saturday - along side Utah Saints! The music was fantastic - photo's to follow.
