Yep. Our #2 son has just been transformed by a clippers and scissors make over from yours truly. We were cutting Felix's hair, and I asked him if he wanted a haircut. He was right up for it.

The weekends round up..
I was working in Cheshire on Friday, as a sort of Roadie. On the way back in, we stopped off at the cinnamon rooms in Harrogate - I believe this to be the best curry house in town at the moment.
Saturday I played at my old mate's (DJ Dharma's) 40th Birthday (Happy birthday you old hippy!). His goodly woman had organised the whole thing and a top job she did. She decided to theme it as an orange party. (Which I found out after getting there!) A room full of happy orange people. There was a man in an orange dress. You don't see that every day (Unless you are a hare Krishna I guess).
When Eirene came down later on, she brought me an orange shirt. Ended up at an orange after party and had a great time with smashing orangy bits.
On the way home I noticed something. The red line trolley border was IN FULL FORCE. What do I mean? About a week ago, we noticed that our local supermarket ASDA, (Short for the Associated dairies don't you know) had put red markings on the 4 paths exits leading away from the place. These lines were accompanied by a sign "trolleys that cross over this line will stop automatically).
There must have been about 20 trolleys near this exit. Some, near another exit had been beaten up a bit and someone had tried to get "the device" that must house the automatic break off. It seems that a few good trolleys must be sacrificed for the good of the populous. Clever idea though - must save supermarkets a load of cash in man hours as well as replacement cost - I heard that one supermarket trolley costs £80+ to replace. It's better for the environment etc. (how many times have you seen a tolley in a river, canal or field?) but I do feel that ASDA now have more of an obligation to keep the paths clear of dead trolleys!
So - last night I played at what is turning out to be a fabulouse evening - SPENT. Last night featured me on't percussion, Mark Holland and John Hebden behind the decks.

I feel as rough as a badgers hoof today. I went out last night with a load of people I used to work with.
I had forgotten how near to Olympic standard they can drink. Pubs, bars, clubs and then a sidewards walk home (Do crabs walk in a straight line when they are drunk by the way?)It was Steve's leaving do (A big old DragonDrop adventure bon voyage to you sir.) He's off to Australia the lucky tinker.
So today, I've got to go to Cheltenham. Sunday - I'm playing at spent with John Hebden and Mark Holland.
Right, better crack on really.

DragonDrop shirts...
as seen on TV !
When we were in India, I left a DD shirt, in the capable hands of a chap we met out there called Jim. He wore it to the India v Australia cricket match and some how became a sort of lucky mascot, witnessed by thousands if not millions!
Here are some extracts from his email...
"As we marched round the ground leading the cheers, thousands of people are climbing over each other to shake my hand, pat my back and kiss me on the cheek. People are even handing me their children and having their photos taken with me like I'm some sort of foreign dignitary. ... . Then I stand bemused as I watch the cheerleaders lead a group of around 5,000 Indians (I shit you not) chanting over and over again "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Jimmer is a Superstar"... . ... PS. If they show the game on Sky, have a look, apparently the camera keeps showing us. "

Well - had a top weekend.. (is that 3 in a row now?)
Started out on Thursday really, when we had a mate round for dinner, that turned into a late one.
Friday lunchtime I started helped my mate Al set up for a 9 piece live Acid Jazz band. Here is said mate and our impressive array of buttons and twiddly things.
They ('Kanopus')were cool as was the sound and atmosphere. Good on em- they did it all for a charity - some school is getting built in Africa thanks to them. Some photos of the band here.
Saturday involved breaking down afore mentioned gig, then we went to Jamie and Helen's engagement party. They had hired out a scout complex near Thornthwaite. Great idea - top venue. It's got 40 bunks and loads of camping space with big firepits and is set in idyllic tolkinesque picturesque surroundings. A big main hall got transformed into a gig venue where 3 bands played followed by DJ's. Here we see Jamie (the groom to be) enjoying the 'out of retirement for one night' rocksters 'Ozone Baby'
We spent most of the night outside by 'the drumming fire'. I played a load of didge and drum. Top fun.
Today, I've got myself a new winter coat. A massive parker or 'snorkel jacket'. Like the one I spent the first 12 years of my life in. Cold winter ? ... Bring it on.

Cool weekend. Yet again in fact.
Drum and Bass Halloween parties on Saturday. The first, was done by the Polar Red crew (South London) at Jacks, in Harrogate of all places. A Female DJ called Pixie took the headline spot, supported by DJ Who and a bit of MCing by George.
After a bit of time there, I went across to Ripon with Al, as we had previously installed a massive 3k rig into a bar called Labrusca. Labrusca had a slightly Dutch feel to it - split on 3 levels and the interesting history is that it used to be a toy shop! Al's rig performed... and then some.. On our way to the event, we heard it - about 40m away, a steady boom. As we approached, 2 lads bailed out saying "I think my ears are bleeding". I'm soooo glad I took earplugs (and yes - I'm getting old!).
So - after that, we went to an after party back in Harrogate. Still a fair few fancy dress people out and about and the crew from the Harrogate party, along with assorted peeps ensured an interesting and fun party.
So - all in all - a great night that was. Met some lovely people and listened to some good choons. The music in Ripon was slightly tarnished (in my humble opinion) by the MC, who's 'without pause' style and distorted / weak microphone did my head in a bit.
Last night I did a gig at a new night called Spent. This night has just moved to Revolution in Harrogate from BRB in Harrogate. The night had a good turn out and a good vibe to it. Nice mellow grooves. And I was going to have a quite one. Funny old world.
