These arrived today...
I was rather hoping they would arrive in time for FIRE, but alas, no. For the next one.

Fire five. Cor Blimey. What a night that was. Someone has beat me to the blog http://www.pocket-size.co.uk/
Ashen picked up on the girl who did the singing as well - she was the star of the show in my opinion for sure. I don't think her performance could have been choreographed any better, or been more suitable for bang on that moment in time if we had tried. Kasha her name was - look out for her (we want her back!)
Surprise guests - miller, who did a bit of MCing, and the legendary Jonny Fredericks did the warm up set on the decks - he played a load of grrreat rare groove, soul and Funk. Following on from that, Cloudbass did his thing - Cloudbass has a great ear for soundscapes. Perfect for gently waking the evening up.
Dharma's set was flawlessly brilliant and Paul Q, who headlined for us, mashed it right up. Good and proper. I split a drum skin I was so excited.
The mild evening air was a treat, and on the terrace, it had a real festival vibe to it all.
So I'll be having a sift through the rest of the photo's and get them up soon.

Tonight, I start my new residency at Bar Med. In a nutshell it's DJ Dharma playing phat and funky house with me on't percussion. This is what the flyers (front) look like...
See you there !

Well - fairly record 'lack of blog' interval. I've been rather busy. Tuesday was devoted to my Aunty Ruth who passed away last week. I shall miss her. She was an inspiration to living life to the max, to the end. In her own words, she was a re-cycled teenager and if I can be enjoying life like she did, to the end, then I will be happy. Still - I know that she would not want me to dwell on that, so moving on...
Big news is that I've landed a residency at Bar Med on a Saturday with me on't percussion and the legendary DJ Dharma on the decks. Should be fantastic - really looking forward to it.
Today, I invested in a new bit of kit. A Nikon D70. What a beast it is. Right - I'm off to go and terrorise the kids with it for a bit I think.

Just finished the job on the conference that I've been on about in the last few posts. The part engineer, part roadie work is fun, and the rest of the crew are all fun to work with, but I must say that I prefer this roll when the end game is for music rather than conferences. At least all the effort is rewarded with some music and beers. Still - managed to get some drumming in today ! There was an African Drumming workshop on that I'd heard about so my drum homing beacon kicked in and low and behold I found a job that needed doing in that very room! Nice.
We went to watch calendar Girls last night (at the centre - they were playing it in the main auditorium for the delegates). Nice film. Mostly filmed round places I know and my mates mum was in it! After that we went out for a couple of geniuses to celebrate paddies nights. Saw some traditional Irish fiddly folk at the Iron Duke followed by having a look in at Bar Med to see my mate cloudbass playing his Wednesday night DJ set. And that was the day that was.

I'm sat in the Ripley Suite in the Moat House International Hotel in Harrogate. I've been setting up conference AV equipment. Decided to have a go on the centurio mobile technology (wireless LAN). Very good it is as well. £5 for 2 hours is a bit steep though, but at least I've got an account now should the opportunity arise again!
Well - suppose I'd better get on with some work.
Now got 2 of my collegues watching me blog on a big screen projector. Very strange. As are they.

Well - pretty unadventurous day. Been working on a conference down at the conference centre in Harrogate. Had my own walkie talkie - this was good fun for some reason.
Also had a conversation that may lead to FIRE 7 having a very special guest. You will hear it hear first ! keep your fingers crossed.
Right - chill O'Clock.

Cool weekend. We went to see Skapegoat Kelly play at the Blues Bar Harrogate last night - they were knock out! I think it's their fifth gig (as scapegoat - who knows how many gigs they would have accumulated in their separate ventures) and they already have a great following. Them and 'La Sangras' have got to be my fave bands in town at the moment. Ended up in Bar Med - hung out in the VIP and had a couple of beers and natters before heading home. Got a shout this morning for a job getting a load of stage equipment sorted, ready for a big conference that I'm working on next week. Amidst all that, I've reformatted my main PC and it's behaving really well again. Once I've got fireworks re-installed I'll try and stick a photo or 2 of last nights shenanigans.
Currently watching The Blue Planet on the new channel UKTV documentary, it's the one from deep deep down at the bottom of the deep blue sea. Amazing stuff.

Phew. Stats down to normal levels again. 37 uniques ish.
So - busy week. Been doing working hard, but it's been a nice workload. Went out for a couple of drinks with some old friends last night to the Old Bell Tavern. My mate risked the strongest brew on the menu - "Bush" weighing in at 12% vol. Very nice taste as well.
Having a quiet night in tonight and tomorrow were off to see Scapegoat Kelly play at the Blues bar. Just had the new Fire 5 flyers printed as well - looking good!

If you have come to this site from PC Gamer - then please read this! I've been checking my stats for this site and have found a rather large spike of traffic coming from the PC Gamer site. So far I've had 89 visitors today, most of which I think have come from PC Gamer. I've had a hunt around in there but cannot find any links leading to my site. If you have come from that site, then you must know what the link is all about! Please put me out of my misery and mail me with the reason. Many thanks.

Cool day. Did some chunks of work, recovered from an pub based extended meeting. I like meetings in pubs. You seem to get a lot more done that you do in an office / meeting room.
Got a good email from me old mate Dave who's currently chillin just north of Perth, after an amazing sounding adventure through India, Nepal, Thailand, now Western Australia contemplating which vehicle is most suitable for the long trek ahead over the top of Australia to Cairns via Broome. Pop top Landcruiser or camper dilemma. Tough call. If I were headed that far north and I could afford it I'd go for the cruiser. Is it not cheaper to hire?. What ever the vehicle, it'll be covered in dirt and bugs like the rest of em before too long. Anyway - keep in touch suit en route.
Well - we've just (well Eirene just) transformed the downstairs into a different space by moving a few sofas and tables and the like around. It's looking nice. Roomy.
Well - I reckon it's speep O'clock.

Spotted this on my friends site - Rrrr-ing.
It was garbage man Johan Kuijf's last wish to be buried the way he lived: in style!
How very strange.
