So the weekend felt like we had managed to squeeze about a weeks worth of activity into it. Saturday night we went to Col's 30th birthday bash - a full on psy-trance party, at Bar Med VIP Lounge. loads of UV decor, loads of goa and psy trance, loads of nice people. It was fun. Then, we went to a friends party and wagged the chin for a while before catching a few vital hours kip.
At around 7am Sunday Felix, the worlds latest 6 year old gets up. Lovely morning. One of his pressys was a spiderman web blaster. If you get one of these, try to avoid pointing it at the ceiling! After a rather smoothly run morning, we went to set up Felix's Mexican Birthday party at Grove Road Methodist Church Hall. This was fun. I somehow managed to be in charge of the birthday games. Rather fun it was as well.
Wrapping up the day with a few tinnys and a few friends and their kids round at ours.. Carrom board came out and I converted a few new recruits to the Harrogate Carrom appreciation society!

Great fun gig on Thursday night. To a backdrop of lighting we played to a surprisingly appreciatively crowd. Wrapped up there about 2 ish then headed back into Harrogate.
Friday (yesterday) went to Kirkby Overblow and had a nice but overpriced meal at the shoulder of mutton (£8.80 for bangers and mash!) - I decided I wanted a pub lunch with an open fire. Got that I suppose. Last night, stopped in. Tonight, we are about to go to celebrate a mate's 30th birthday and tomorrow, it's Felix's 6th Birthday! What a weekend.

Just about recovered from the monsterr stag weekend that just was. Back into the swing of things. Mellow few days.. Tuesday night we had some friends round for dinner - they cooked it ! Not the usual way of doing things but he is a chef, and a darn good one at that. He'd been out collecting wild mushrooms, so we had this hedgehog mushroom and potato bake thing with caramalised onion and parsley omelet thing. I could eat it all over again now.
Since I bought the game Command & Conquer Generals last week (top game)I've been playing it loads. Superb war strategy game. Chess for computer generation.
I've got a gig in a castle tonight! : Swinton Park
Should be fun.

Nottingham ended up being our mystery location for the stag do. Fantastic fun packed weekend was had by all. After a boozy night in the Hotel (Hilton) we got up and were transported to the middle of Sherwood Forest to an activity place called 'Go Ape'. We all got to be monkeys for a couple of hours. Great fun. After a swim and meal we went out to jongleurs comedy club. Very funny stuff. After that, a bit of clubbing, a bit more drinking, then a quick last swim before heading back to harrogate, where we all headed straight to the pub for a couple of games of pool, then round to a mates house to drain the last drops out of what was a fantastic weekend.

A Stag Do. That's what I'm up to this weekend. Looking forward to it, yet I've got a slight feeling of apprehension going on as we haven't been told ANY of the details apart form - pick up point and time of our return. Eirene and Tina have organised it all. Is that a good, or a bad thing?

I'm at working at the Harrogate Exhibition Centre / Conference Centre / Royal Hall this week at the NATN conference. I've just watched the opening speech from a living legend -
Terry Waite.
What an amazing character that man is. nearly 5 years as a hostage, 4 in solitary. No books, no writing material, no conversation - nothing. An inspiring speech - mainly about humanity itself and the underlying thought that was "what ever happens to me - it could be worse". He hilighted a story that I found amusing - a few years into his captivity he found a friendly guard who agreed to get him some books. The first 2 books he got were (due to the guards lack of English and access to English books) "The great escape" and "Breastfeeding - a manual" (not even illustrated he added!). He had an idea. He convinced the guard to lend him a pencil and a bit of paper for a few moments. He drew a penguin on it - after that he got a flurry of good books. It struck him (and me) as how powerful a logo can be - an image without the barrier of language. Anyway - I'd better get back to it..

What a fantastic night I had last night. Started out by doing a gig at Dr. Wu's (community). There was an unexpected warm up act in the shape of a folksy / bragg / Dylan esque acoustic artist - Roger Davies. After that, I played me congas to Brett and Niel's vinyl selection.
So - after the gig, we went to a fantastic club - Stinkies Peephouse. Intriguing name I thought. The club was like a 3 floored house with a big hole in the middle - the very top floor has a glass dancefloor so you can see down when you are up there, and up when you are down there. The middle floor is where the DJ's stand is. A superb gallery with a hole between the crowd and the DJ's looking down (although it was blocked off last night) to the bar room below. Next to that, a garden! Playing, were the fabulous East Coast Boogiemen. x 3 DJ collective from San Francisco. They were amazing. Playing house, but dirty drop beats beats. Very good.
Today I've been DIYing in the Van (fitting new speakers) and we took the kids to the time machine (a massive indoor playground for kids) .
Tonight I think we are going to chill and watch the City of Men - borrowed first 2 seried on DVD.

Went to see TRIGGER play at Bar Med last night.. What a top band they are. A few covers, well done (inc Radiohead and... Abba would you believe) mingled with their own well penned stuff.
Today, got some new glasses and a 'championship pro' carrom striker and some carrom powder.
(yes - starting to take it seriously - loving it... Is it a fad? Who cares.. anyone fancy a game? - very addictive.) This is a little anim I found just now of the game..
What a difference the new carrom accessories make - 10 times faster, more accurate and stuff... After playing carrom, I pottered around, went shopping then Leeds. Think I may watch a bit of telly now. Haven't done that in ages.
