Fire was superb fun. The music was brilliant. You may notice that the flyer on the post below had a stormtrooper on it. This was because I knew that we had a very special guest arriving. An actual stormtrooper.

Also - talking about music... check this out - it's been going for a while now, but I've just had a reminder of it... it's pretty cool : www.music-map.com

Had a top night out last night - went to see Scapegoat Kelly at Bar Med (or Skateboard Jelly as they were calling themselves last night). I think I've mentioned on DragonDrop before that they are one of my fave bands in Harrogate. I've not seen them for a few months. New stuff and new bass player both way cool. The last bass player is recovering from a serious rock and roll injury - his bass went Live mid gig a few months back, rendering him electrocuted. At the end of that song, the rest of the band noticed. Poorly hand is a result. Well wishes Matty.Anyway - back to last night - top performance. Looking forward to seeing them again.

Cool weekend. Fairly chilled. Stayed in on Friday and played generals (command and conquer). Went for dinner at a friends on Saturday - lovely evening. Sunday - took clover, our van off to be stored for the winter. A bit of a sad occasion because it means that it is indeed proper winter.
No warmth, no camping, no camper.
The temperature seems to have really dropped the past few days. I'm not a big winter fan I have to admit - I'm into heat. This time of year is especially annoying because you have to get back into practice as to exactly how much clothing to use - to much and your wandering round looking like the Michelin man, sweating cobs, to little and you freeze. When you get to your destination, it takes several hours to convert to indoor attire (especially if you have kids) and you create a small mountain of jumpers hats, scarves, coats and such like in your wake.

So yea, today we went through to an air field near Bridlington to support Tina, who decided to do a skydive from 10,000 feet in aid of children With leukemia. Well done Tinana! Here she is proudly holding her certificate!
After that, we found a beach just south of Brid and splashed about for a few hours and it looked a bit like this:

What a full on week I've had. Pretty much non stop. Went out on Monday night with a client, and it turned into a full on night out. Little sleep later, I got up to do a full day. Wednesday I went to Telford to do some work down there - up at 06:30, didn't finish work till 10 at night, then up at 7 on Thursday, didn't finish till 1am, up at 7, worked in Telford till 4.30pm, drove to Harrogate, picked up my wife and drums, headed off to Leeds to do a gig! finished that at 1.30am, stopped off at a Caribbean cafe in Chappletown on the way back for some tasty chicken and plantain!... then it was a well earned sleep in followed by a trip to Tropical World in Leeds to see the fish, butterflies, reptiles, plants, spiders and meerkats etc. and this cool monitor lizard that I snapped..
And today! - what a day! more on that soon...

Cool weekend.. played with Dalmatian Kebab at Bar Med VIP lounge on Saturday night for the first ever "The Late Lounge" - great night. Cool laid back atmosphere, nice people, great vibe. Looks like this night has quality musical fair lined up every week for the rest of the year. It's nice to see live music in a club - If you like stuff like the Wardrobe in Leeds then this night is right up your street.

After the fireworks on the stray, we went to another bonfire celebration at a mates village. Tiny little place, just outside Patley Bridge. By the time we got there, the kids were asleep in the van so we transferred them into their bunks and we had a couple of drinks and by the fire. As the fire died down, the stupidity stepped up into the spotlight. A friend, who'd had half a shandy or two by this point, decided it would be a fun game to run through the fire. First attempt OK. Second attempt, decided to take someone along for the ride.. Said second person wasn't quite ready for the leap of faith and I watched as I saw him trip and stumble head long into the embers. Luckily, only a badly burnt arm and a couple of little burns on his back was had. Remember kids (and as importantly, drunk adults), don't mess with fire!

Just been to the Stray to watch the fireworks and see the fire. Superb. Yet again the fireworks out did last year. Massive things they were. Saw some new fireworks that I'd never seen before that were like a cluster of smaller fireworks all going off at the same time (as shown in't picture) Well done to the Harrogate Round Table for the ace fire and thanks to the Council for splashing out on the fireworks.
Now we are supposed to be going up to Patley Bridge to go to a mates bonfire party, Taking the kids and clover - probably going to be the last time we will be camping out this year...

Culture. That's what I've been up to. Tuesday night, we had some free blags to go and see "Ghosts" at the Harrogate Theatre. Erm - well performed, yet rather a dull story line. Good characters, yet slightly.... dull. It's apparently part of the national school curriculum, so I guess it wouldn't do to show the entertainers of tomorrow anything too interesting.. but - it was not bad on the whole.
Last night, I was lucky enough to be invited on a brewery visit to the oldest brewery in Yorkshire - Samuel Smiths in Tadcaster. It made me reet proud to be a Yorkshire man. This place reeked of tradition. everything seemed to be the same process as it has been for hundreds of years. Everything about the process makes me think that it is indeed a worthy ambassador for Yorkshire Beer (especially the taste - very bitter, with sort of toffee undertones) The water for the is drawn from a well that is a massive lake the size of Tadcaster, deep underground. Did the walk round, saw all the stuff that makes it, met the horses that deliver it, then got to sample the fine liquid. Very nice. The brewery pub, in Tadcaster was our next destination... Pie, Peas and Chips... and more ale. Get this... £1.20 a pint! Game on. Superb - well worth a night out.
