What a weekend! Top fun all round. Saturday, we went to a beer festival and saw Dr Thirsty (rock covers band)play. After that we went to see 'Organ Donor' at Bar Med. Superb they were. Funk/Reggae/Dub 4 piece. Star of the show was the keyboard player. Proper Hammond organ and Lesley rotating speaker. Top stuff. Had a haircut, got ready for FIRE!
What a night it was.. Great DJ set from new boy Will J and his bro Matty J on symbols and timbala, top stuff from Mr Len Basey (pictured above), poor show from My Johnnie Fredericks who was not in the house, blinder of a headline DJ slot from Mr Brett Weatherhead. Stick it in your dairy - next FIRE 27th March. More pics 2 to follow.

What a weekend. Stayed in on Friday night and had a really nice chilled evening. Saturday I worked then went to set up for the Dalmatian Kebab gig happening later that evening. 3pm meet up time - really early but we all wanted to work on the sound and get it spot on. Hats of to Allan for cracking the elusive perfect live sound in Bar Med's VIP lounge. Had a run through the 'tricky bits' from our set then came home and got ready. The gig was at midnight. I love playing late - everyone is more up for it. Great fun gig, really happy with the sound. got back in, I was in one of those can't sleep moods so I finished off reading Deception Point by Dan Brown.
I think out of the 3 books I've read of his (since Christmas day!) This is by far the best. Anyone that likes the tv show '24' would love this book. Superb read. Yesterday, went to a meeting then went out with all the Bar Med crew on a works night out. Hilarity ensued. Slug an Lettuce then went to a Jam night at the Iron Duke. I got up and did a couple of songs with Ricky the plumber. Nice songs - he chose a Finley Quay number and a Paul Weller number. After that we went to Spent at Revolution then got invited to a party at Brio's. Watch a bit of ping pong ball ! there then came hope for cups of tea. Now it's Monday and tis snowing! hope it lays. Right, back to worky things.

We went to see bouncers a few hours ago. Good show! I was expecting something a lot darker for some reason but a very surprising cast structure and classic comedy moments made for top entertainment. It illustrates the side of clubland that's at the opposite end of the midnight circus from something like Cannel 4's 'Human Traffic'.
It?s superb to see that Harrogate Theatre is thinking about putting on things that are accessible to generation X. More!

I wasn't up at 05:30 this morning. Instead I woke up about 08.00 and felt rough as a dawg. This was a result of Eirene's birthday and drinking rather heavily. We started out proceedings with a trip to the cinema to see the new magic roundabout film.
Robbie Williams did a superb job on the voice of Dougal it's got to be said. Good film.. not as obscure as the original TV shows or as I would have liked. Still though.. some nice touches. After that we went to the blues for a couple before I took Eirene off to her SURPRISE birthday party. Silly idea me taking her to our regular boozer. The cat nearly escaped the bag a few times.. so anyway - off we trotted to the retro bar to be greeted by a wall of Eirene's (and Colette and Ian's - it was their b'day as well) friends. Stuck some good music on, had a great time. After that we went up to Carringtons to have a look at Jump Around. What a little pocket secret that place was to find! heard about it of various people for ages (along with it's sister night there 'bottom of the bottle' - both DJ Trev) Got to be said, not really my musical cuppa, but the band they had on (fast, loud and angry angsty bunch) were v.talented. Double bass kicking drummer, widdly widdly screaming guitars, chugga chugga bass and a shouty front man. Mainly dressed in black apart from the bass player who I think was wearing a dress. Fair play to him. Entertaining stuff. Stumbled from there, into a Joe Baxi then came home. Today, crept thorough what I had to, punctuated with moments of dithering and feeling sorry for myself. Heavy drinking cannot be shaken off like it used to!

I was up at 05:30 this morning to get to Runcorn.. again. Traffic was a lot better today than it was on Friday. Had a very chill weekend indeed. Perhaps the chillest weekend I've had all year. Did a lot of reading. Finished reading The Da Vinci Code.
Good book, didn't quite live up to the hype in my opinion, or other books by the same author. Well - time to crack on...

I was up at 05.30 this morning to get into Runcorn again today. Been awake since 04.00 after Felix woke us up with a complaint about his sweet lollipop whistle thing being broken. Grr! little monkey.. Playing at Dr Wu's in Leeds tonight (traffic permitting!). Better crack on....

I have this on good authority, from a reputable source (well... semi reputable!) A letter sent to B&Q yesterday...
Dear Sir/Madam
My warmest congratulations to you on getting a yacht to leave the UK on 28th November 2004, sail 27,354 miles around the world through some of the harshest conditions known to man and arrive back, safe and sound, 72 days later.
With this in mind could you please let me know when the kitchen I ordered, 96 days ago, will be arriving from your warehouse 13 miles away?
Your sincerely,
John Roberts

It's twirly. Twirly in the morning for me to be up and about. I'm off to a job in Runcorn for a couple of days. At 2am this morning, both kids decided not only to come into our room and try and blag a space in our bed but have a full scale argument between themselves in the process! Thanks kids. Anyway... I'd better be offski.

Chilled out weekend all in all. Went to The Late Lounge to see Scapegoat Kelly - cool as ever. New material sounded cool.
Had friends over to stay from out of town.
A classic Sunday.. text book stuff... Got up late, Got the papers, croissants and jam. Helped Eirene prep Sunday Lunch for 8. Rack of Lamb, yorkies all the trimmings. Watched Ski Sunday, ate loads. Early to bed to read. Nearly finished Da Vinci Code. Gripping stuff. Also reading Deception point. even better.
Also got a stash of photos that MattyB took at the last fire - I'll be sticking a few of those up later..
