Some top comedy moments last night at the 2nd Birthday party of FIRE. it's quite a while since I've taken photos that have made me laugh out loud but this certainly did. Very amusing night all round. Si Hudson's Ninja tunes meets Plump DJ's type set was amazing. That boy loves his filthy bass lines! Cloudbass did a top house based set, Mike H - superb as ever - Stuck on a great remix of the Primal Scream classic 'rocks off' which took the roof off... then DJ Dharma.. it was ace playing along side the legend after so long. Opened his set with the 2001 theme and kicked it up and up and up.. Real shame we had to finish early. I'm aiming to get the rest of the photos uploaded today.. watch this space!

2nd Birthday - who'd a thought it... We're looking right forward to it. The council and police had an anon letter of complaint about FIRE, so we didn't get a late license :( So we're starting a bit early 6pm! and not charging to get in. Fancy dress, Halloween, bring a pumpkin. Si Hudson's Plump DJ style kicking off, into Cloudbass, into Mike H with the one and only DJ Dharma headlining. Me on't percussion, Len Bassey on Sax, Jimmy Jones on trumplehorn, fire acts surprises and giveaways... It's going to be bada bing, king ming. More info>>

It's Felix's 7th Birthday today. Happy birthday my boy :)
He got loads of goodies - I think the one he liked best was a remote control submarine which, if the truth be known is a lot smaller than we thought it would be by the size of the box it came in! Anyway - he's reet cuffed with everything.

Went to monks cross waterworld for his birthday treat yesterday. Much fun on the waterslides etc. Burgerking got our food dollars after that. As fast food places go, I think I favor BK.

Polished off a book I've been randomly reading. I say randomly because I'd never heard of the author, needed a book, in a hurry (Runcorn a couple of weeks ago... running out of time for my Lunch) and picked up a few - liked the look of Norwegian Wood by Murakami Haruki (translated from Japanese by Jay Rubin) Haruki, I later discovered is a very well known writer in Japan and this book, seems to be a very different sort of thing to what he normally scribes. I really Enjoyed it - medium paced about not much in particular but some really interesting character development. A think I really liked about the book was how the main character was an avid reader, he kept citing and describing the virtues of books he'd read. My 'must read' list has grown lots!

Watched Layer Cake last night.. good film, edge of the seat stuff. An insight into the hierarchy of what the layers of management may look like in the drug industry. Good solid acting, especially from Colm Meaney (DS9 / Star Trek TOS). Worth a watch, if you liked Lock Stock and Snatch.

Happy John Peel Day. I really hope that catches on. The man was a legend in his own life time, doing more for new music, the art, expression and creativity that it allows, than perhaps any other man who's walked this earth. Keepin it Peel.

Got a new car last night. It's ace. A Rover Sterling 2.7 V6. It shifts. I was a bit bored of driving Eirene's 1.0l atoz 180 miles a day with no stereo.

An interesting thing I heard on Radio 4 this morning -MI6, the UK's secret intelligence agency has today launched it's own website. The department that until about 10 years ago didn't officially exist. Website hi-lights include "careers" - how to get a job as a spy.
Click here to spy on the spies.

Quality weekend as solo-dad. Saturday's first job was to go to the toyshop in Harrogate. A new minicon for Felix, new toy rally car for Jay. McLunch followed, then a trip to Ilkley to see a play - 'The Pink Centipede' The boys loved it. Jay got to be the river, Felix a meadow and everyone (inc. me) a centipede leg) After that we went up Ilkley Moor... without hats. Found a maze thing called the millennium maze. Quite fun. On the way home we popped into Aunty Tina's before going to the pet shop and buying a new goldfish. Came home, set up the old fish tank and christened the new fish "Freddy".

Sunday, we went to Waterworld at Monks Cross (near York) This has got to be the best swimming pool I've been to ever. 3 waterslides which wind allover the building and even outside the building, one of which you go down on a massive water ring. Wave machines, as well as "the lazy river" a circular pool route that has a current. Grab a body board and go for a ride!. Much fun. After that, more junk food at Burger King then home. I was fast asleep when Eirene got home, but I was woken with loads of treats including Austrian chocolate, sausage and cheeses.

Today, back near Runcorn.

A new look DragonDrop that's what. Above was the holding page graphic I used whilst getting the new one sorted. Still got loads to do on it but.. it's getting there! It was something I wanted to do for ages but it was actually prompted by the anon pointing out the lomo link was b0rked. It's now a masthead feature.

Other news is I've ordered some new DragonDrop T-Shirts... There are some people I've owed one to for years! Let me know if you want one, or if you are going on an adventure someplace cool in the not too distant.

Anyway - been doing a lot of miles trucking to and from Runcorn this past week. Looks like I'll be down there at least 4 days a week for the next 8 weeks.

Eirene has gone to Austria for a few days with a friend. I've said she should blog. Hello miss you if you are reading x.

Got another film back shot with my Lomo Fisheye:

I'ts the cinema near our house. Owning a Lomo gets you membership to the lomographic society. I've been padding out my Lomohome. Apart from that I've been flat out with work. Still working in Runcorn.
