Just registered the DRAGONDROP XI in the brand new telegraph fantasy cricket. Deadline for entry is the 3rd of May, very cool top prize - tickets for the first 2 test at The Ashes this winter in Australia with all flights, hotels etc plus £10,000 to boot. Luckily their computer keeps track of all the scores because its rather complicated. Points for runs, points for wickets, and catches, points off for a duck is the basic jist. All based on county matches (so you can't go to mad on selecting England squad playes becasue they won't be playing as much county level) You're allowed 28 transfers in season (swapping spin bowlers for fast when the weather gets hot seems to be a good idea). Game on. Howzat? Click here for info>>

Watched Lords of Dogtown (2005) last night. An enjoyable film, based on a true story of the birth of 70's Skateboard craze. From Surf roots in Venice California a bunch of friends turn into a new breed of rock stars.
Got The Streets new (3rd) Album a couple of days ago - "The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living". I like. The guy is a poet. The slant of this new album is about what it's like to be someone who's made it, just done a major tour, everyone recognises, and the papers hound, yet he still wants to have a bit of his old life. The only let down is that some of the production leaves a bit to be desired. Still though - an ace album with some great story telling and observations.

Just uploaded me photos on my flickr site. Clicky click click for look see. or view em as a slide show
Great night - Archeo Barquarta rocked, as did Jonny Viagra, Dharma and Children on Steroids / Mike H. Pete Oliver, Scapegoat Kelly's 'Fle from the Chilli Peppers' esque bass player added another dimension to the sounds, loads of guest percussionists I didn't play much at all. Great fire breathing / stilts / show from Callum.. Only downer to the night was a high volume of technical hitches including a record needle duffing mid gig!

Got a new set of headphones today - Sennheiser PXC 300 They are stunning. They have got this noise reduction technology that gets rid of "up to 80% of" unwanted noise. I was working in a shared office today and they were ace. Eliminated the tippy tip tap tap of keyboards, the whir of pc fans and printers etc. I had my own bubble. Less stress and I could concentrate loads better. I found I had the music on fairly low because it felt like I was in silence. Bliss. Quite amusing at the end of the day when someone went past me with (what looked like) a hoover that wasn't switched on.

Amazing - check out www.Archive.org.. (thanks Lee for showing it to me!) It does what it says on the tin and takes a copy of the internet every month and stashes it away for years to come - check out vintage dragondrop - it's holding page in fact! (year 2000!) - DragonDrop.org

Newby Hall this Sunday - volunteers required: If anyone remembers last year, all I can say is hopefully much the same without the torrential rain all day! I'm not as heavily involved this year, but my mate who is running it is looking for actors, (including farie's who's he's got 8 wedding dresses with flowers and wings added for!) performers - poi, jugglers etc (don't knacker yourself out for FIRE mind!) - drop me an email if you're interested and I'll put you in touch.

Watched Supersize me last night. A feature length documentary where a chap does an experiment to see what happens if he ate NOTHING but Macdonalds for a month. 3 meals a day. If Macdonalds didn't serve it, he wasn't having it. After about 3 weeks his health had gone down hill massively. His doctors were strongly recommending that he stopped because he was turning his liver into mush. He even refused aspirin because they didn't serve it at the golden arches. He was feeling sick, depressed, out of breath, lethargic and was really quite ill. The show looked at the multi billion dollar PR engine that keeps America going back again and again - to heck with the health. His Vegan Chef girl friend was not impressed. I didn't half fancy eating McDonalds though. Strange. A fascinating film.

Went to the jam session at the Iron Duke on Sunday, fairly unplugged, no percussion. Popped into Ministry to see what it was like on a non rammed night. Twas OK. Monday - worked from home, designing an application interface (I love doing that kind of thing), Yesterday, in't office, Today on a (new) client site doing some consultative work / designing an (other) application interface.
Watched Chocolat last night. Really enjoyed it. Great story, Great actorvision, apart from Messrs J Depp and his ridiculous Irish Accent.

I've just updated the template of my blog. Tidied up and sorted the achives out. It's now got a tracker system that means I see YOU, right now via TFTV® Photo technology! - basically the screen acts like a camera and creates a low res virtual image of the viewer and transmits it back to me - it's fascinating. Here is how it looks.. More info here>>

Went to the new clubs last night. Ministry of Sound / minibar / kandi bar in Harrogate. I think they win the prize, hands down, no question asked for the "how much can you change a venue from it's previous incarnation" competition. As they have knocked out all the kitchens the floor space of upstairs is utterly different. A huge optic fiber waterfall effect is one of the first things to greet you as you walk into the brightly lit main bar area which straddles the space with a DJ booth to the left. Behind the main bar, corridors and small rooms, booths and walkways and a dance room. The dance room (called 'The Box' I believe) does what it says on the tin - it's a blacked out room with a huge stack of bass cabs at the back some lights and a DJ at the front. A hot tub room, a video diary room a room with hanging chairs, booths with table top order your drinks machines and a gray corridor with a concave wall. Downstairs, same structure as before with a new glass internal lobby and huge white beds and chairs. Musically, it didn't offend or excite but the sound system is superb. Last night was rammed (first public opening night) and It took me 22 minutes to get a beer and because of the new structure a dense knot of people formed to the right of the main bar where traffic from / to the entrance and the top of the stairs is. The design is 'out of this world' and there are some never been seen before (in Harrogate anyway) concepts in there. There's an intentional (?) lack of focus, the designers have succeeded in creating a venue with so many different look and feels. The security staff all wear a similar uniform to my kids school uniforms (Burgundy jumper, dark trousers). The foot flow problem was probably compounded because everyone (including me) wanted a good wander round and didn't know where anything was etc. Overall impression was that it's an amazing bit of spend, and I think I'd like it if it weren't so rammed.
After that I went to The Moko Lounge also in Harrogate. This used to be po na na's. Same structure as it was apart from a moved DJ booth, different decor - very red, very dark (but not dingy) . The new sound system is superb, John Hebden was playing a disco / funk / soul set which sounded cool. The atmosphere was laid back and the service was good and ended up having a good night out.
