I'm on my lunch break. Found a really nice spot overlooking Earby. Beautiful panorama with probably 40 mile visability. A kestral is hovering with pin point precision in front of me. Very cool to watch.
This is odd/fantastic/disgusting/great/terrible... McDonalds VIDEOGAME If you liked sim city you'll like this. If you dislike what McDonalds is doing to our planet, you'll probably McLike this game. Stumble It!
So it was FIRE last night. Till about 11.30 it was looking like it was going to be a duff one. I’d figured that a lot of the FIRE regulars would be avoiding town and the testosterone rich St George brigades. Loads of groups of lads populated the town, post football and had been out (and drinking) since early afternoon. Some unsavory characters were ejected and it started picking up.
James K from Norway (well currently Manchester) was excellent. Jazz’d out cerebral sounds. Very nice. Mike H played one of the most enjoyable sets I’ve ever heard him do and I loved playing me congas over the top of said set. Dharma came out with some belters – some absolute classics then we have a very special surprise guest DJ – Robert Anthony all the way from Melbourne Australia who stepped the pace up and took the roof off.
Today, I’ve been working from home and have not even got out of bed yet. I’nt wireless networking brilliant! Stumble It!
Sat by an outdoor hotel pool near box hill, dorking. Recovering from a superb gathering. Eirene has got a HUGE family and about 30 turned up for a reunion. A very nice indeed meal lead into WiNe, BeER, Champagne, FLAMINg sambukas and 5am. Setting off for the long haul up NORTH for FIRE. Bit more reading first, just got hooken on Ben Eltons new release - The First Casualty.
Went to put the FIRE banner up at Native last night and ended up watching the England v Sweden World Cup match. After that I went to take some photos at Dumblond store which has just undergone a refurb.
Went to work today. Hired a car for the time being to get too and from said activity (because I had to scrap my Rover V6 Sterling), a brand new Vauxhall Vectra SRI which is fun.
Today is summer solstice, the longest day of year and also our wedding aniversary! 6 years! thats our wood wedding. fnar. Time to get amongst the pink moet that's currently chilling in our fridge!
This is what the bar staff do at Native State when FIRE isn't on ;) Max, Coctail supremeo (when he has mint) created this pyramid out of flyers for said event and sent me a photo (above). He'll probably have a bit more on his hands tomorrow when the footy's on't 10x8' big screen-o-rama vision. Stumble It! 0 comments

Started a new job / 4 - 6 month contract today. Nearly full time. Still ticking over my own company (www.jaylix.com) but put all projects (apart from cherry picked fun ones!) on back burner. Quite bizarre going back into the corporate trenches (the co I'm working for has 9k employees worldwide.) Good though. 40 mins each way in the car and it's a really nice drive - Earby - the other side of Skipton. Not really affected by rush hour, no city grind and smell to deal with. Anyway, Eirene has just presented me with a big pile of dead nice food so I'm off to get myself on the outside of it. Stumble It!
It's not every day you see one of these. Well I did yesterday. Walking through town I saw this chap and asked if I could take his photo. Not only did he say yes, but he also played the A-Team theme tune. Clowns don't get much better than that in my book.
Went to a party / bbq that started life as a kids party, but a PA, some decks and some beers were the foundation of an grown ups party. Much fun.
Tis Fathers Day today. Already had a huge lie in, a very nice hand made card from Felix and I've been issued with the instruction to stay in bed and await a meal of some greatness. :)
Went out to watch England v T&T on the big screen in the packed Native State. Proper good atmospeher. Probably something to do with them two goals England popped in during the last ten minutes.
Came home to avoid footy drunkards, babysit and work. My computer crashed after I'd got into something. Decided to knock it on the head and play with the internet instead. This made me proper chuckle.
Had a great weekend. Outside for nearly all of it which was good due to the clement weather. Saturday we went to a patch of river near Ripon with some friends and swam and played and generally messed about. Bliss. After that we went up to Fraser's shed for a full moon party. A full PA / drum kit / bass / guitar / record decks / my congas / projectors and lasers were set up. Some friends played a set from their band, then a couple of DJ's took the reigns and I joined in on the congas. Went for a big walk the following morning, saw a giant hogweed (very scary plant) and a massive hare and a buzzard (I think - huge bird of prey, either that or a red kite). From there we went to a friends garden party then home for a bath. By jimmeny, we all slept well.
So last night I popped along to the slug for a bit then came home and shared a very nice bottle of red with Eirene from the Harrogate Fine Wine Company. Our neighbors couldn't get the telly working and they are Polish (and naturally wanted to watch the Poland v Ecuador match) so we invited them to watch it in the front room. They lost so decided to crack open a bottle of polish vodka from their freezer. Oh dear, me my head is a shed today as a result.
Off up to Frasers full moon party tonight up at his shed with a bit of luck (the luck being that our mechanic manages to complete the task of replacing the back beam on clover)
Somewhere between Runcorn and Warrington (near where I'm working today) is me sat by this pond. Warm day, the birds they are a singing, the fish they are a jumping. Water boatmen and skimming across the water and I've spotted 2 species of dragonfly. What a nice place to spend my lunch hour!
I love this photo. It's Sophie's first photographed smile. She was asleep (ish) at the time. Wonder what she was dreaming.
Full on life since last bloggage. Thursday, went to see "The Da Vinci Code". Now, I've been accused in the past of viewing the world through rose tinted media goggles, and giving glowing reviews to anthing I read / watch visit etc. but I've got to say that (I thought) the film was a pile of pap. I enjoyed the book - it got into the mechanics of the code that eeks out the plot - fascinating. Great tension, great pace, great characters. The film seems to have glossed over a lot of the interesting bits. I don't know if I'd have been able to understand what was going on if I hadn't read the book - even though it felt 'dummed down'. So yea - I'd say if you have read the book - don't bother, if you haven't read the book, read one Dan Brown's better books like Deception Point.
Friday, we set off on a mission to go camping (in clover). We were going to Shell Island, Wales. Just crossed the border and a lolloping crunch happened, doing about 40, thought it was a blow out until we saw the rear wheel overtake us. 7 hours later we arrived home on a low loader. Spent the rest of the weekend painting our back yard, with a rest bite on Saturday when we went to a lovely BBQ in the sun at our friends house and had one of my fave BBQ fayres - Cajun Chicken.
