Quick

Quick update – work is manic this week as I’m going away next week..

On Sunday I went to Headingley to watch England v West Indies at the cricket. It got rained off. Never the less we entertained ourselves in the pub for the day, I met Paul Collingwood and Peter Moor!

On the Bank holiday Monday we went up to Malham to go on the Malham Safari. This was fun. A Doctor Who theme this year – clues and tardis action abound. We went for a walk up to the cove and watched a bunch of top class climbers being filmed for something or other. Also saw the worlds fastest creature – Peregrine Falcons who were nesting up there. What a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world that is.

Anyway – I’m off to crack on.. so much to do… so little time!

Its on the mend.

The darker line on the tip bone was the damage. They have taken off my thumb spike (feels a bit naked and vunderable). Apparently the best thing for a speedy recovery in these types of Ian Jury’s.

Still got a very broken thumb. It’s annoying me now. Good weekend. Got a great new radio yesterday and proceeded to have a full day of chilling in the back yard listening t’ cricket. Back at work today. quite a struggle as using a keyboard hurts.

Broke my thumb last night playing cricket.. So wanted to get a pic of the xray but they were all narky in the hospital when I went in at about 6 this morning. I miss judged a potential bowled and caught situation. Pain-o-rama but I’ve loaded up with some top drawer pain killers. Driving and doing up my fly’s are so far proving to be nigh on impossible.

To be fair, I’ve fiddled around with this photo in a tilt shift / toy town style but it’s from a photo I took from the Yorkshire Wheel on Saturday. A 60m high junior version of the London eye that gives an amazing view around the vale of York. It’s part of the National Railway Museum (the worlds largest railway museum) which being free is allways a good thing to do with the wee’ns – a superb place.
On Saturday night I was commissioned to take photos for Daddy Cools nightclub in Knaresborough. This place reminded me SO MUCH of the good ol’ days at Bar Med Harrogate.

Water For Elephants

I’ve just finished a truly memorable, superb, could not put down page turner of a book. One of those few and far between books that you really don’t want to end. Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen beautifully unfolds a story of 1930′s touring circus life in the 1930′s. Hundreds of people strong, the travelling community moved by train, setting up a gig at the crack of dawn, breaking down at by dusk then moving on, through the night in trains. A time when freak shows and animals were still a major part of the show, a time when alcohol was illegal (yet still readily obtainable for those in the know), a time when American was racked by depression, a time long since forgotten. I’m so glad I picked up this exquisitely and most believably researched and fantastically written book less than a week ago.

The book I read prior to this was White Teeth by Zaidie Smith which seemed to take me ages to get through.

Falls

Cor – it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. Great weekend – went camping up at Hardraw Falls. This was followed by a superb FIRE party at XS nightlife. I’ve not enjoyed playing that much for ages. Ended up at an after party. This was followed by a rather chilled Monday. Photo’s from FIRE XXXX are up on my flickr site..
