I know from my site stats that most of the readers of this blog are very fortunate. I’d be surprised if any one reading this post would have any problem finding a drink of clean water within a few seconds. We take clean water for granted. It’s a sad fact that 900 million people rely on unsafe drinking water largely resulting in the 22,000 children who die each day from preventable causes.
Without lifting much more than a finger, there’s two things I think we should all do.
1./ Sign the petition below which is essentially to urge the power people to prioritize on the Millennium Development Goal to half the number of people without access to clean water and sanitisation by 2015.
Sign the petition
2./ If you were thinking of buying a bottle of water today – go for tap instead. The water bottle production industry accounts for 2.5% of the worlds oil consumption. Only 10% of these bottles are recycled. The rest go to landfill.
And for bonus points, spread the word.
