They think Jaygo has got Gradenigo’s syndrome – as a knock on effect from the Mastoid infection. It’s fully treatable without surgery from what I understand. It’s an infection of the area behind the eyes (I think) causing double vision and his vertigo symptoms are back. Yesterday he had a CT scan and today another MRI scan. He is back over at York Hospital. Current treatment is lots of antibiotics again given to him intravenously. Eirene is over there with him. Poor lamb. I just want it all to be over and done with.

My daughter was recently diagnosed with this as well and is still in hospital recieving treatment. Wondering how much u know about it. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi Tanya – not a lot really I’m afraid – other than what I’ve written here and found on wikipedia etc. Is your daughter receiving antibiotics? Has she got any problems with double vision?
Hi Matt, Yes she was admitted to hospital a week ago with ear drainage, headache and I noticed her eye had become lazy, They said she has Gradenigo syndrome. Yes she has had double vision. Yes she has been on antibiotics since we were admitted to hospital.
Hi. Sounds like similar symptoms to what Jaygo has. Is she suffering from vertigo symptoms? My lad is feeling sick and dizzy a lot of the time possibly as a result of this and / or the other things he has. They are making him up a set of prism glasses which will cancel out the double vision to a degree. For the time being he has an eye patch over one eye and that is helping him.
Sorry to hear he’s feeling dizzy and sick most of the time. Elizabeth was also feeling sick and dizzy before she was admitted to the hosoital. Luckily she is feeling great and back to herself again. After the 2nd day of antibiotics her double vision had greatly decreased and is now totally gone. She actually had Otitis media which led to the GS. The doctors are talking about sending her home next couple days with the treatment of 3 antibiotics continued at home for 6 weeks.. I hope Jaygo is feeling better real soon.
