So I’ve gotten hooked on (yet another) social network. Instagram. I love taking photos and have often invested unhealthy volumes of time experimenting and attempting to make photos look different – eg buying a camera from Russia, buying out of date (“dead-stock”) film off ebay, taking a bunch of photos with it and having it cross processed.
Instagram takes years of experimentation and digitally emulates effects like old cameras, cross processing, light leak – the effect is that nearly any photo you take with it looks like you’ve spent years learning about the alchemy of photography, or have spent hours in Photoshop tweaking. The quality is fairly ‘low res’, but that’s part of the appeal. It’s fast and immediate. There are other pseudo lomo type apps out there I’ve tried – like vignette for Android that’s also, very cool – but nothing has the social uptake curve of Instagram.
Here’s some of the highlights of my weekend, through the medium of Instagram..
Picked Jaygo up from his school for an appointment. Notived a delivery there from THE NINJA CORPORATION. *YEA!* If I ran a ‘company name of the day award’, these guys would be winners.

..Went to Leeds.. Here’s Jaygo just before he got the all clear from his consultant..

Elsie got dressed up..

On Saturday morning, I found a D1 T4.5 (Difficulty / Terrain) Geocache called “The Source of The River Skell”). Spot the dog.

Saturday afternoon was a garden party inside a Gazebo village (it got a bit soggy out). Here’s Elsie’s bezzie mate, Bruce.

I loved this photo of the smoke risking from the fire betwix these sisters.

The rain cleared and we saw a Double Rainbow. This was photographed and instagrammed by loads of poeple around Harrogate. It was so intense.

Sunday we went to a medieval faire at Harwood House. This was pretty cool. My phone battery died so I had to give up on instagramming for the weekend.

So yea – Instagram is here to stay. Try it, find me (dragondrop). Don’t think just shoot.

Is Elsie (or Spot, the dog) having a dump in the river?
Instagram looks cool, it’s like sepia, for generation Gigadross.
No she’s not!
A wee, maybe?
Not even a little tommy squeeker.
Aaaahhh! Bumwee!
