A weekend where not much happened, but lots has happened. It kind of started on Thursday evening with a fire bin in our back yard, with a few lovely peeps. We had relatives staying with us for a few days which was nice. They were on holiday, doing a mini tour of Europe before they head back to their architectural callings in Finland.
Saturday, we’d planned to go camping, but this fizzled down in numbers and due to Sophie heading out for a birthday party at Harrogate Climbing Wall, it meant it was not impossible, but impractical. Spent a very enjoyable sundown in the company of a good friend and a disc golf course. Ended up having an old friend round that evening and made a new friend in the form of a chap who runs a radio station. Lots of music chat and appreciation.
Sunday – picnic in the valley gardens and a look at the Spiegel Tent that’s popped up near the council offices, along with their frightfully photogenic big chairs, as pictured above. The ‘tent’ is an amazing magical venue. we’ve missed everything that’s happened in there – it’s part of the mighty Harrogate International Festival – but at least got to have a nosey around inside for future ref. There’s still a bunch of stuff lined up for this and the other venues taking part in the festival. The fringe is also up to some good stuff – this looks to be an interesting concept: ‘Across the Town‘.
Last night, I saw a stunning sunset…
Backed up by the Shepard’s delight provenance of this, one of the best things I’ve heard recently is the rumour of something akin to a heatwave heading our way – at least 2 weeks of sun, coming soon!
