More day is great. Doing outdoor stuff after work at this time of year is still such a novelty and it’s coming up two weeks since the clocks went forward. I’d got into such a habit over winter of finishing work and heading straight home – back indoors. This evening, I went for a mini walk. I’d done the same thing last night also – a petite adventure after work, mainly because I could. Because there was enough daylight to go and grab 10 minutes of wide open space. I didn’t do anything particularly special – just stopped the car near a path on the way home and walked for a few minutes. Snapped a quick photo (above), did a geocache as it happens, and carried on.
It’s almost like I’d forgotten about daylight being a usable commodity after work. We spend the bulk of the winter in perpetual semi dark to dark. Daylight is such a novelty, such a treat at the end of a working day. Doing something – anything – with it makes the day feel more worthwhile.
I can heartily recommend it – especially to my fellow office dwellers. Get yourselves out after work. Use the extra few hours of light we’ve got now per day – or if not all of them, just a few minutes of them for a quick stroll, and a game, a ride – what ever floats your boat – a reboot. It’s good for the soul.
