Filey

Filey

We’re just back in from a day out at the sea side. Last night we enjoyed the mildest night whilst camping I can remember in ages. A night who’s sky went straight from twilight to dawn, skipping the pitch black bit entirely. We put the world to rights, drank some, played some, talked some. This morning was foggy headed and… Read more →

Nel’s Birthday Camp

Nel’s Birthday Camp

We’re at Bobby Bee’s campsite, Burton Flemming. We arrived mid afternoon to a full compliment of happy campers. We’ve had a massive game of cricket and are starting prep for an evening of food, fire and fun. A cracking campsite – quirky and unique. The weather has been AOK. The scene around me right now – two dogs (Bruce and… Read more →

Some photos from AllanGate

Some photos from AllanGate

I collected a processed film that I shot last weekend on my LOMO LC-A. Quite pleased. I also got back a film that I shot on a LOMO LIBERTEL 166B -= all out of focus. Quite unpleased. You win some, you loose some. Anyhoo – here’s a selection of my fave from the bunch… Great weekend, seems so long ago… Read more →

Music.. What happened?

Music.. What happened?

The other night I popped into a local late night food emporium. You know the kind of place; the “Yes my friend, chili sauce?” mantra ringing in your tinnitus ears,  whilst you run the risk of falling over thanks to the dizzying effects of staring a the elephants leg kebab rotisserie. I took the above photo. On it’s own, it… Read more →

I did write a blog yesterday, honest.

Regular visitors, and those familiar with my DD365 project that involves me blogging every day for a year this year, will note a visible breach in continuity. It looks like I didn’t blog yesterday. I did blog, but made it (as far as the front end of the site goes) private. I’ve chosen to do this for the time being,… Read more →

I sent a life changing email this morning

I was poised over the point of no return, with a single finger – the left mouse button, whilst my mouse pointer hovered over the virtual send button. Up until that point, I could have retreated. I pressed send. The time was 09:04. The email was to my superiors at my place of work, handing in my notice. This same… Read more →

Vaping

Almost exactly 1.5 years ago to the day, I gave up smoking. Whilst I hadn’t been a heavy smoker, I did smoke enough so, that it was an addiction. I had a physical and habitual dependency on smoking cigarettes. I enjoyed smoking and turned to ‘having a ciggy’ at so many opportunities. I’d tried giving up before a few times… Read more →

AllanGate

AllanGate

My mate Allan had his 50th birthday this weekend and pulled a mini festival together to mark the occasion. For those of you who don’t know him, Allan is a top bloke and I consider myself very lucky indeed to call him a true friend. We’ve been putting on parties together for years – particularly FIRE parties of which we did… Read more →

Something

Something’s happened today that I can’t talk about just yet, but is rather exciting. I’ll come back onto that in a later blog, no doubt. The rest of this blog is likely to be me waffling on about nothing in particular, like so many of my blogs used to do, but don’t do as much these days. These days I’ve… Read more →

Codeacademy vs Minecraft vs Cricket

Codeacademy vs Minecraft vs Cricket

Today my boy Felix (age 14) got cracking on www.codecademy.com. He has been expressing an interesting in learning ‘code’ and finding out about the how the internet is made for some time, so I pointed him there. I’ve read so much good stuff about it, had a little play myself and liked what I saw and what’s more, it’s all free…. Read more →

Grassington

Grassington

Drawn by the some’uts ‘appening in Grassington rumors (Grassington Festival), we set Fathers Day Outing coordinates for upper Wharfedale in The Yorkshire Dales yesterday. Grassington is one of my favorite places. Even though it gets hammered with tourists with the rest of them, it never seems to sell out, or worse, have that air of ‘us and them’ that so… Read more →
