I actually look like I know what I’m doing here. Don’t tell anyone that I make it all up as I go along.
I popped along to ‘Electro Jam’ at Zoso last night and span a few tunes. A fun night. It’s an ‘open deck’ night where you’re welcomed to turn up with a bag of tunes, check in with the organiser (a fella called Jason) and you’ll get allocated a slot. I had a 45 minute slot from 11 till 11:45 and actually had the place bouncing for a while.
You get a pint for your troubles as well but more interestingly – it’s a good place to have a chin wag with other DJs – if you’re into that sort if thing – or just a place to hear some music. A really welcoming atmosphere. No pretensions, everyone is down for and with, the music.
Owing to the ‘anything goes’ music policy, (I was sticking to fairly tripped out, Chicago House ish influenced stuff) you can expect to hear a bit of this, a bit of that. Last night for instance, there was a dub meets well, er (Andy? citation need – comment below), through two house DJs (inc. me), into (I’d left by this point) Dubstep and Trap, I understand.
A quality night in one of my favorite bars in town at the moment. Every Tuesday, 9:30 ’till late, at Zoso, Harrogate.
I was playing Dub meets rootin’-tootin-americana-irish-drinking-songs. Glad you enjoyed my set, ha ha!
Matt, tuesday nights are pretty much my only free night, and due to the recent no alcohol policy, hgte is a valid destination for me,… I would love to come to said night with you if you let me know next time youre off??
