This is one of those blogs that is a bit of a chore – or at least starting it is. Like most things though, once begun, it’s half done. The reason for my reticence is down to a drained me. We’ve just had a brilliant evening, hosting a BBQ at our campsite for the cast and crew of the play. 32 covers, including 6 veggies. I cooked a lot. An activity that we’re honoured to do and love doing – the format is one of camp fire, bbq ,beers, eating and chatting. After a double supermarket run involving some fairly intense calculation and logistics (between ferrying our kids to and from rehearsals) we set the scene – the quiet before the storm.
The heavens decided to open on us during the most intense part of the cooking. A never mind though eh outcome, as spirits were high and a bit of rain almost feels like it’s part of the event. Such a diverse bunch of people. Charisma and whit. Teachers, vicars, care workers, musicians, doctors, artists, historians, scientists, writers, athletes, actors and more.. all descended on base camp Poppit for the night. All turned out nice again.
This is all on the back of a late one last night, where after a gathering I ended up going for a moonlit walk where I ended up meeting some new people at 3 in the morning. This place is incredible for stuff.
Pretty zonked, night night.
