My good friend Darkus (who incidentally, I’m DJing with later tonight) and I once had a band called Meat Raffle. We had one gig. We both played guitar and we were epic. That’s got nothing to do with this blog post, other than the meat theme.
Today’s blog post is about a meat box. Similar to a vegibox – you know – the thing where you have a box of veg delivered every week for a set price. We do this as well. We like doing this as a./ it saves us going to the shops and b./ we get seasonal fruit and veg. There’s often a total surprise in there which challenges us to do something with it. We usually do.
So – we’re trying out a meat box. We’re apparently a bit of a guinea pig for it as the meat perveyors (yet another good meat themed name for a band) BOLTON ABBEY FOODS used to do a “Meat for a Week” product, but dropped it. Depending on our feedback, they may take it up again. We basically got a shed load of quality meat (and they have got an excellent reputation) for just over £50. Totting up the list price for all these bits is over £60. I’m not sure if that’s the regular price or just them being nice. Anyway. All good. It’s more meat than even my exorbitantly above average sized carnivorous family will eat in a week mind. There’s probably two weeks worth here.
I take over the kitchen at weekends, assisted by one of my boys who take it in turns to be my Kitchen Porter. I’m going to be cooking up a storm I think.. The thought process over what to do with the pick of the crop has already started.
