Harrogate Christmas Market : Aborted mission

Harrogate Christmas Market : Aborted mission

We attempted the Christmas Market at the bottom of Montpelier Hill (Just opposite the Slug and Lettuce) today. A mix of stalls and food concessions were the main stay with a smattering of small fairground rides at the Cold Bath Road end. I’d like to report back with a glowing review, but we beat a hasty retreat shortly after arrival…. Read more →

Sophie’s presentation on the play in Wales

Sophie (aged 7) had an assignment from school. She was to make a presentation to give to the rest of her class on any subject of her choosing. The presentation was to last for less than 10 minutes. I helped her with it but she put a lot into it and we’re really pleased with it. It tells the story… Read more →

Parents Evening

Went to Felix’s parents evening – the boy dun good! It’s his first one we’ve been to since he started his GCSE’s. Very pleased with the feedback we got – he’s predicted A in most stuff – even an A Star in one. The only subject that let the side down for him was English a bit – but room… Read more →

Quick trip to London

Quick trip to London

I’ve been to London today with m’ colleague to see some clients. I ran a workshop session thing. It went well. Gearing up to begin. Discovery. I like this stage of a project – the design part (coming up next) is my fave. To get there though, we need to know what it is we’re designing. Anyhow. Just on the… Read more →

Busy ramp

Starting this morning, I’ve got a very busy few days ahead of me. Work wise, the complexity is ramping up on a few things and a deadline is within sight. I had one of those meetings that I wasn’t looking forward to this morning, but it turned out all right. Tomorrow I’m off to London village where I’m conducting a… Read more →

Monday’s eh? They often set out to remove the last vestiges of ones weekend gusto, the erstwhile enthusiasm and creativity generated over the weekend can so easily dissipate, if you’re not careful. I don’t let them though. Oh no. I’ve got a few sneaky weapons up my sleeve for when the Monday blues try to poo poo my moves. I… Read more →

Stag do in Dentdale

Last night I went to a stag do at a big ol’ country pile of a place deep up in’t dales. A mansion (owing to its two staircases) in fact. Heading up past Skipton, up the Kendal road then off the beaten track then off the less beaten track onto an even less beaten track. A spectacular sunset accompanied me… Read more →

Irlen® Glasses

Irlen® Glasses

Jaygo got some new glasses today. They have specially coloured lenses in. He’s been diagnosed as having Ireln® Syndrome. The ® part of the syndrome makes me a bit suspicious , as did the price tag but some of the info surrounding these seem beneficil. They should help him with reading , demeanour and concentration, which is good. The benefit… Read more →

Bitcoins. They’re wierd.

Bitcoins. They’re wierd.

A friend of mine posted a picture of a bitcoin mine, over on facebook earlier today. He went on to say that bitcoins were making more than his regular job at the moment, possibly thanks to the recent price hike, where they topped off at a record high a few days ago of $674.38. Bitcoins have trebled in value since… Read more →

eCommerce Conference

eCommerce Conference

I’ve been in London today for an eCommerce conference with work. Fascinating and insightful. Pretty pooped now – just got home and need sleep (its been a full on 16 hour day so far) but I want to brain dump a few salient points before snoozeville… A lot of focus on CXM (customer experience management) and the age of smart… Read more →

I’ve got less than 3 minutes to write a blog

So, I’m in London, I’ve just arrived at my hotel. We’re meeting up again in the lobby and finding a pub (next mission – I’m thinking Foursquare). I’m down here for a conference thingy tomorrow. I’m doing a quick blog now, just on the off chance I don’t get back before midnight and my website gets turned into a pumpkin…. Read more →

Family Gathering

Family Gathering

We’ve been up north today. Darlington, County Durham to be more specific, for a family gathering – my dad’s side. You know that thing where you all go “we should get together sometime, we really should meet up as a group, do something, have a meal or something” and never get round to doing it? Well we finally got round… Read more →
