The picture above is a Selfie of m’self, aprez dog walk, early O’clock, this actual morning.
Over the last year, the word “Selfie” has become socially ubiquitous. One of those curious phenomenons whereby an erstwhile unbeknownst six letter combo has carved a place for itself in the digital halls of fame. A now widely recognised word, meaning a photo (typically taken with a camera phone) of one’s self. Things like twitter and instagram have become instrumental in propelling this word into the arena of high propensity within common-day verbiage. There’s a lot of it about. It’s morphed and hybridized into a number of sub forms such as duckface selfie, group selfie, and if you follow the plot of this video from #Thinkfluencer (a media artist of sorts) – all about the selfie, there’s also the shelfie…
(Trust one of my kids to join me and watch that video when that bit was on)
