Just before Christmas we were given two , one week’s free membership to the Academy. The Academy is a health club in Harrogate. It’s so much nicer then the local swim baths. There is carpet on the floor in the changing rooms, the power shower’s temperature is adjustable not universally boiling or freezing. Most important though is the fact the pool is warm so Annie and I don’t get cold when we are pottering about in it. It is such a treat . Although it would be nice to become members, the cost per family is astronomical, so Annie and Sophie and I just go as often as possible to make the most of our free passes. Unfortunately they ran out last week, however this weekend was open weekend so today we spent a happy hour at the fun session playing about on the floats and diving for weights. It’s been fantastic watching Sophie’s confidence and swimming technique improving and Annie learning to kick kick and hold on to the side.
This summer in Wales she might even be able to swim into the ‘Witches Cauldron’ a cave only accessible by jumping from the rocks into the water and swimming to. We will have to wait and see.
