It’s half term. The children are off school for a week. I find that there are two ways to play it, by ear or to strategically plan every day. The former does my head in. I make suggestions, they say ‘no’. I ask what they want to do, they say ‘watch technology’. We end up at loggerheads, they end up watching too much tv and I feel like a rubbish mum. This time I am keeping them busy. We have plans for every day. Luckily for them Annie requires nap time so our adventures are structured around her sleep, leaving plenty of ‘needing to not rampage around the house like a demented elephant,’quiet technology time.
I also am never quite sure how many children will be in the house at any one time. It varies between day and night. Today at peak time I was out numbered seven to one. By tonight we were down to just one extra. It’s lovely having a busy house, full of life and laughter.
