Jay’s school was on strike today but only for certain years, which ment he didn’t have to go in, whilst much to his glee, Felix did. I feel teaching should be a highly paid and highly qualified job. They are educating the future of our country and our world and should be paid and treated accordingly. Teachers put in long hours often starting at 7 and not finishing till after 5. Although holidays are longer then average, alot of the time is taken up with marking and lesson planning. They are surrounded by so much red tape and have to jump through so many hoops whilst never knowing whether the current method used in the curriculum or attainment test will be them same from one term till the next. Not only that but they have to live with the fear that at any moment OFSTEAD may decide to visit and grill them within an inch of their lives on everything from teaching to targeting to tracking to training. Trying to catch them out and find fault. It isn’t a case of innocent till proven guilty, its more of a case of guilty till proven otherwise. Poor teachers, it definitely isn’t the easy ride people seem to think it is. I hope they get what they want and make teaching a highly paid and sought after profession that accepts, trains and pays the best and in doing so gives our kids the best education possible.
