When I was little I used to go and stay with my Nana and Grandad. For breakfast there was homemade muesli. It was all natural with no added sugar and to my sugar saturated taste buds eating it was akin to chewing through sawdust. Many years later and I am now making my own homemade muesli. Who would have thought it certainly not my nine year old self.
Here is my recipe. A little different to Nana’s but the principle is still there. Thanks Nana for inspiring me to healthy breakfasts and making my own muesli.
Muesli
Porrage oats
Sultanas
Dried apricots (Sophie’s favourite)
Dried dates
Cinnamon
Macha
Almonds
Ground flax seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Dark choc chips (my favourite)
Mix together add chopped banana and either juice (I prefer orange, Sophie prefers apple) or your milk of choice. Leave 20mins before enjoying to allow the enzymes within the seeds and nuts to reactivate. Eat and feel full for ages.
