Today I am tackling the cellar. Dark, damp, musty and slug ridden it is a portal to junk land, where everything that hasn’t a place upstairs is stored till it is needed, which is mostly never. In the past, whatever section I clear magically refills itself within two weeks and it isn’t long before any evidence of my hard work has… Read more →
Today Annie and I visited Butterfingers, a circus supplies shop based in Harrogate. Normally I take part in multi hula hooping class but this morning we just had fun chatting with our friend Belinda who runs the class and playing with the red noses Annie discovered in one of the boxes. Afterwards we headed home to enjoy a coffee in… Read more →
There has been no carpet in our hall since Mel our old ginger tom marked it as his own. I had a roll of turf left from renovating the back yard and decided to turf the hall way. It’s fake turf so no need to water and hopefully it should be hardwearing. Anyway it makes me smile every time I… Read more →
Today Sophie and Jay and Annie had a lovely time at Charlie and Ronnie’s birthday party. After the magician and food everyone had a boogie in the disco. The loudest cheer was when Matt uncovered the sand pit. It looked like the big kids were having fun too. Then it was time to head home en masse for some Hungarian… Read more →
I had some little hands helping as I laid the turf in our back yard yesterday.
I won tickets for the Spiegle Tent at our school disco. Despite numerous telephone calls getting more and more panicked as the time for the tent approached I couldn’t contact the ticket holder. Today I bit the bullet and phoned the Harrogate festival organisers and explained the situation. They kindly reserved Matt and I tickets for this evenings event… Burlesque…. Read more →
Felix received his phone bill today, £321.24. Apparently he doesn’t have unlimited texts and has gone 2000 over his allowance of 500. Orange are unsympathetic and refuse to help so there is nothing we can do but pay it. Ouch.
As we wandered to towards school this morning, rain dripping off our hoods, Sophie inquired ‘what season are we in, is it Autumn? ‘No darling’, I replied,’ it’s Summer’. She looked at me aghast as water droplets raced down Annie’s waterproof buggy cover. ‘Really, it’s a little bit damp?’ ‘Yes’,I confirmed, ‘welcome to British summer.’
I am currently wearing my stripey pj’s. I look a little like an old film American convict, Jay says I hurt his eyes. Definitely his bedtime.
Jay has recently discovered the joys of Terry Pratchett’s discworld series. His favourite characters are the witches. He has already read ‘The Wyrd Sisters’ so tonight we started ‘Equal Rites’. This is, in my opinion, not one of Pratchett’s funniest works, but still good. I am looking forward to experiencing the book anew with Jay. It will be interesting to… Read more →
What a lovely day. First Jay and I went and collected some turf for the back garden, then lunch and a walk to Bilton beach followed by a quick drink at the Gardeners Pub and home for an amazing tea cooked by Fraser and Tinana. Lamb roast with all the trimmings followed by panatone bread and butter pudding. Delicious.
