Sophie joined the library’s Summer reading scheme. This year the theme is ‘Mystical maze’. The aim is to visit the library and borrow at least six books to read, ideally two per visit. Every returned book wins the participant a sticker for their reward chart. When six stickers have been achieved a medal is awarded to each child either at the library or in a special assembly at school in September. Sophie loves hearing her name called out by the head teacher and going up in front of everyone to get her medal. The reading scheme is a fun way to encourage children to read and visit their local library. I find the trickiest part is making sure we return the books on time.
