My birthday celebrations started Friday evening with a ‘pink pants party’. A novel Sophie and I had been reading together explained how pink pants ward off any Friday the 13th nastiness. Sophie and I liked this idea and I decided to incorporate it as my party theme. Another idea I liked was to ask if my guests would like to organise a twenty minutes music set, any music of their choosing. Friday evening rollled up and I had no idea what to expect, who would be wearing pink and would anyone have put together some tunes? Also with so many people poorly with the lurgy, would anyone even turn up? Well, lots lovely people turned up in varying realisations of the idea pink pants, those with amazing legs wore them on their legs and those of a shyer persuasion wore them hidden and those who have superman aspirations wore them outside their trousers. Fi and Rachel made the most marvellous pink pants cake and we drank lots of fizz and danced and laughed and enjoyed the fabulous tunes brought together by my fabulous guests. Everyone had such a nice time. Thank you to everyone who came, especially those who had work the next day or had to haul themselves from their sick beds to come, Matt who made all the electrickery work so we could have our tunes and Tinanana for finding ‘the turnip fish’ song. I had so much fun, so much fun in fact that I needed to stay in bed all the next day and only emerge on the Sunday when Matt the girls and I visited the valley gardens. Sophie,Annie and I threw bread to ducks that were so full of bread they swam away, played in the park then ate waffles whilst watching Sophie’s steam boat ‘put put put’, around the pond. So much cooler then the massive aircraft carrier remote controlled ship the other pond user had. Dinner for two at Harrogate brasserie and Donna singing ‘lonely’ down the phone, rounded up a perfect birthday weekend. I feel like the luckiest lady to have so many amazing people, friends and relatives, part of my life,
