Jay
Jaygo’s broken his radius. Apparently, according to the nurse, it’s an impressive break. He is most chuffed and can’t wait for pi to wake up in the morning and see his cast. He told Matt he had broken his circumference. Funny boy.

And so it came to pass that I got a job, working for Harrogate and Knaresborough Toy Library. Annie-mo’s very pleased as it means she gets to go to her favourite place at least once a week and play, and eat toast and paint and generally have a brilliant time whilst I run the stay and play session. Most weeks… Read more →
This morning Matt and I watched the sun eclipsing up at the quad, a patch of grass in the middle of the pine woods another top of Harlow hill. Back in 1999 Matt proposed to me up at the quad at eleven minutes past eleven on the eleventh of August at the zenith of the solar eclipse. Being up there… Read more →

I thought I would write a list of my tried and tested things to do in Harrogate with a toddler. All the activities take place in term time unless otherwise stated (not restricted to term time NRTTT). Most take place in the morning as my soon to be two year old still naps (long may it last). Monday morning and… Read more →

I have just heard that my favourite author Terry Pratchet has died. A writer who married great belly laughing humour, thoughtful insites into society, parodies on famous books and bringing astro physics to the masses. I first encountered Pratchet on the boat to England when my mum and I were emigrating. The Wierd Sisters was a novel unlike any I had… Read more →
It’s official, I have decided to stop giving up stuff, stop being faddy and stop torturing my family with wierd diets. They have all been amazingly supportive throughout my madness but enough is enough. Life’s too short to not eat french baguette and Nutella, dippy cheese and good wine and frothy mocha’s topped with whipped cream. All the diets were… Read more →
Today was a cold start to the week, with freezing rain peppering Annie-Mo and I as we ran to Istanbul cafe in Harrogate. We were there to attend Donna’s birthday luncheon. The food was delicious, traditional Turkish fayre and with so much to choose from I can’t wait to go back. Matt is away until Wednesday evening so after dinner… Read more →
As a life long Paddington fan Matt has wanted to watch the new film ever since it’s Christmas release. Whilst collection g Sophie from school I overheard a parent talking about watching it this Saturday in the cinema. Tonight Maria and I are taking in some of the finer Harrogate drinking establishments whilst Matt and Al record a new rife radio show. Felix is on baby squishing duty and tomorrow the children and I are taking Matt out for a surprise treat. We are very excited and I hope he really likes it.
Today was world book day. Sophie went to school dressed as one of goldilocks’s three bears or as she secretly knew, in her pyjamas. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of her but I did get a picture of Annie-Mo and her friend playing with rice and lavender at the kitchen table. They happily sat, quietly engrossed, pouring and scooping… Read more →
Today Matt and I are experimenting with the fast diet other wise known as the 5:2. The basic idea is that you eat what you want 5 days a week and restrict your calorie intake on 2 non consecutive days. Matt’s allowance today is 600 whilst mine is 500. Intermittent fasting is supposed to kick start your body into fat… Read more →
