Like many ladies, my house is full to bursting with stuff. My stuff, Matt’s stuff, the kids stuff, even the animals have stuff. So the last thing I wanted or needed was more stuff. Christmas though, presented a problem. What presents would maintain my need for less with my friends similar need for less. Then I had my lightbulb moment. What we ladies all needed more of was lovely moments. Time to spend relaxing, or eating cake or sitting in hot tubs drinking fizz. These were all things my friends (and I) definitely needed more of in our lives.
This weekend Fi and I visited the Chevin country park hotel in Otley near Leeds Bradford airport for a couple of nights DB&B as our Christmas gift to each other. The hotel boasts a spa with pool and sauna that we made the most of during our stay. As the snow flurries blew around us, we drank fizz in the hot tub before heading to the restaurant for the six course taster menu. Needless to say, diets and calorie counting went straight out with the first bite of the wild game terrine.
Sunday came all too soon and it was back to bath times and school launch pads. However, I do find after a little time away to myself, the world I return to, is slightly more rosy tinted. I feel more inspired to be the best I can be and very grateful to my fantastic husband for holding fort so beautifully. So well in fact I may have to do it again, soon.
