This week has been one of them weeks we’ll all remember. It’s been off the hook as far as big things go.
I’ll get the horrible one out of the way first –
Jaygo had / has meningitis. He’s on the mend now though – resting up at home. At about 3am Friday morning he came into our bedroom saying he had terrible pains in his head. I phoned 111 who flow charted me through a set of questions – the scary one was asking him if he could touch his chin to his chest. He couldn’t. They advised we got him to A&E asap. He had meningitis symptoms. Super scary, but I quickly discovered that there are two kinds – viral and bacterial. The bacterial one is the really dangerous one. They treat them for the bacterial one just in case until the results of tests come through. This involve anti biotic drips and pain killers. Long time readers will know that Jaygo has a spell in hospital for 3 months when he was 9 and this has given him a real phobia of needles and cannulas. This was so reminiscent of that time. Eilrene staying in hospital the first 30 hours with him then I took over. Long story short, the tests came back, it’s the viral type of meningitis so he was discharged to recover at home.
It’s Felix’s birthday tomorrow. It was odd being at Harrogate hospital again as it reminded me of the night Felix gave birth. There’s a little spot that I remember going to for a smoke after the heat of childbirth had settle to embers and both Eirene and Felix were sleeping. Oh wow. I’m a dad. Life will never be the same again type thoughts. That was 19 years ago tomorrow. Since Jasper died (who he looked after very well for the last few years of her life) he’s been missing having a cat. He loves it. He’s called Wellington.
Monday, I handed my notice in at my work. I’ve got a new job in Dubai. We’re all heading out there apart from Felix and Elsie dog who, along with Lisa are looking after the house. My current employers have been absolutely awesome. I’ve grown and learned so much over my time there. I’ll miss it and them. So in about 1 month from now, I’m off. The plan is to fly back to the UK for a few days then we all fly out – all that is apart from Felix and probably Elsie dog. I might take Elsie but I want to find out what her quality of life is likely to be. I think I’ll write more / document our adventures on DragonDrop a bit.
In summary: Oh no, aww, oooh.
