Photosynth
THIS is the future. Check out this ‘Jaw Dropping’ demo of Seadragon and Photosynth Thanks to CMK for the heads up on this.
Sat at work way early. Planned to get in for 7. Due to the A59 being blocked, thanks to a landslide I’ve had to pick out a new route. My new route via (sort of) West End village only adds 8 mins (yesterdays new route cost me 60 mins). Get to chip off at 12:30 today, tomorrow it’s time for another airbourne adventure!

Felix Art
Felix made this. I really like it. I love the range of stuff that’s gone into it – different paint techniques, stuck on stuff, plastic wrappers, black paper… it’s all great in my humble unbiased opinion!

Little Almscliffe golden light
Saturday we went up to Little Almscliffe. (pictured) we hung out there, played hide and seek and went for a bit of a stroll. Clover our van’s fist real outing since I fitted a klaxon horn to her. She’s very proud of that new noise she can make.
Sunday we had some friends round for Sunday dinner. Quality lump of topside was procured from the butchers (Bulmer’s, East Parade) the day before. Superb chunk of meat which went well with all the trimmings and some of the finest roast potatoes I’ve ever encountered.
Last night I was supposed to be going to watch the Superbowl at a friends house but fell asleep so missed it. Never mind. Cricket could be exciting this week if we beat New Zealand.

Guess what..

Yep -= we are having another baby!
Today’s scan (above) went well, all seems OK.
Been trying to ‘hold out’ on revealing this information to all but nearest and dearest, which has been nearly impossible, thanks to Felix’s gleefully habit of saying “guess what mama’s got in her belly” to everyone who we see.
So yea – it’s 15 weeks, due around the end of April.

Yorkshire Tea v Ringtons Gold
V
I’m a big fan of a good cuppa. Tea that is – coffee is OK but tea is the drink of champions. went out for a couple of beers last night and the conversation got onto tea. It’s a good subject. Remember I made it last ? The ultimate tea rota engine.. Have you seen Nice cup of tea and a sit down? (lead story over there is ‘It’s suitable spoon month’ by the way)
I digress…
We drink Yorkshire tea nowadays. My drinking buddies drink Ringtons Kenya Gold. I drink tea strong, 2 sugars, plenty milk (for your future reference). Whilst we agreed on most issues, like warming the pot (if pot methodology is employed) stew instead of mash (time permitting), as well as the “easy way to spot an amateur” milk before tea bag removal being a big no no. As is water that has been off the boil for more than a couple of seconds. So a lot in common apart from preferred brand.
We decided to put it to the test. We went back to my office, assembled all the pre-requisite equipment and ingredients. I made identical cuppers (using different tea). The result, according to our test subject was a preference for Ringtons Kenya Gold. Hmm. He went on to say that Yorkshire Tea had a slightly earthy fishy taste to it! No idea what he was on about. I tried a cup of Kenya and although found it very nice thought Yorkshire tea had the edge.
According to Google Wars, Yorkshire Tea is a clear winner
according to google image search, Kenya gold is a fish.
As well as that, it’s got Yorkshire in the title. Unbeatable. Ringtons is from Northumbria I think – so still a Northern brand (therefore know what they are doing in the ways of tea) – Cat amongst? anyone care? What tea do you drink?

Terry Waite
I’m at working at the Harrogate Exhibition Centre / Conference Centre / Royal Hall this week at the NATN conference. I’ve just watched the opening speech from a living legend -
Terry Waite.

What an amazing character that man is. nearly 5 years as a hostage, 4 in solitary. No books, no writing material, no conversation – nothing. An inspiring speech – mainly about humanity itself and the underlying thought that was “what ever happens to me – it could be worse”. He hilighted a story that I found amusing – a few years into his captivity he found a friendly guard who agreed to get him some books. The first 2 books he got were (due to the guards lack of English and access to English books) “The great escape” and “Breastfeeding – a manual” (not even illustrated he added!). He had an idea. He convinced the guard to lend him a pencil and a bit of paper for a few moments. He drew a penguin on it – after that he got a flurry of good books. It struck him (and me) as how powerful a logo can be – an image without the barrier of language. Anyway – I’d better get back to it..

Internet fridge
Check this out – an Internet Fridge. I’m going to make it a DragonDrop mission to do a blog from a fridge. If anyone spots one of these in the real world, please let me know.

About an hour ago, I watched the latest space shuttle (STS-110) take off live on CNN. You can watch the progress of the mission live on the internet (As I’ll be doing over the next few days) As well as live mission control, press conferences and loads of other interesting stuff, you actually get to watch the shuttle, the crew and the ISS live from outer space – now that’s what the internet was made for !!
