The doctors have just been in to say we can go home, not just for the day but till Thursday when we have to come back for a blood test to check his inr levels. Jaygo and I are so excited. I am a bit nervous too. Its a bit like bringing a new baby home from hospital in so… Read more →
Here is Jaygo receiving his first ever text message (from his Mama) moments after another first – first ever sending of a text message. We got a spare mobile to leave at the hospital (then as a spare phone to have kicking around) guessing it may be largely adopted by Jaygo – certainly for the time being.
So Jaygo had a Spinal Tap (rock and roll) to relieve intercranial pressure. It was very high apparently – the reading was at 56 something or others (psi?) and it should be around 20 for a Jaygo type human. They managed to get it down to 29 which sounds good. I was there when he came round – very ratty… Read more →
Look! No lines!, originally uploaded by DragonDrop. Such a relief getting rid of Jaygos cannula yesterday evening. The Doctor that removed them was a doctor who helped look after Top Gear’s Richard Hammond after his 300+ mph car crash, whilst he was in intensive care. He told him about the helicopter and how it landed on the roof and such…. Read more →
A rough night but Jaygo slept till 11am! I’ve just had a meeting with Dr Livingstone. I like him. He is going to speak to E.N.T. in York and see if we can stop IV and go with oral antibiotics instead – that would be a massive win if it would be poss. Looking to arrange appointment with eye doc… Read more →
Jaygo at Nelson Mandela Gardens, Leeds, originally uploaded by DragonDrop. I didn’t really realise how close to Leeds city centre the infirmary was. We had popped up the fantastic roof garden here yesterday – and wanted to show Eirene but the had to close it to let a helicopter land. Down to the front doors and out we went. Spectacular… Read more →
Hospital Festival circuit VIP, originally uploaded by DragonDrop. So we are now in the Paediatric Neurology department in Leeds General Infirmary. Left Harrogate District with a bit of a sour taste in our mouths after a strange outbursts from a ‘new ‘ (to us) doctor who said that we weren’t supporting them. Shame that we left on bad terms after… Read more →
Had an appointment with the opthamologist this morning and they gave me a souvenir photo of the back of Jaygo’s eyes.
Jaygo for lunch!, originally uploaded by DragonDrop. They let Jaygo come home for lunch. He requested my French Onion Soup with Gruyere croutons. So nice to have everyone back for a bit. Such a nice day.
This was yesterday morning in York Hospital – the sun was shining, Jay and I were tucking into banger sandwiches whilst he had the attentions of several young female nurses! Not been a bad run since then. A bit sick yesterday am and a bit of pain round the site if the new IV central line thingy and a weird… Read more →
He is back now. He is fine.
Its about 1.30am and I am waiting for Jay to come back from theatre. A fairly minor procedure on the grand scheme of things – a long line. Having a man I had only met a short while before gas my boy to sleep in front of me then wheel him away is one of the hardest things ever.
My baby boy, originally uploaded by DragonDrop. There’s something very comforting about watching him sleep. Ups and downs kind of day. He’s just had a bath though and was fairly wobble free on the way to and from the bathroom.
Back at the hospital. Just wanted to drop a quick blog to say dont worry , I’m cool. So Jaygo is making progress bit it is slow going. A lot of the pain has gone but the sickness is on and off a bit more . He has burst of feeling good then bursts of feeling bad. Just had visits… Read more →
Friends gone home now. Been out for what was a lovely few hours. Brave face wasn’t hard. Good food company cricket banter. Perhaps the beers have made me feel sorry for myself. Perhaps the brave face isn’t as easy as I thought. Just want all my lot home to roost now. Bit sad. Lot sad. Don’t worry though. This is… Read more →
