Firstly - thank you all for the support, kind words, thoughts and offers of help - we really really appreciate.
He is doing a bit better today - he has been sleeping pretty solid but he managed to keep down his first drink in several days (He's been having fluid replacement through a drip). Still on the antibiotics in large doses and still on painkillers - they may have to upgrade to morphine was one thought from the doc this morning. I like the way the doc said "was a serious situation" rather than "is a serious situation" when he was speaking to us this morning.
Looks like he will be in for an estimate of 7-10 days.
