We were up in the Kendals today. Kendal, South Lake District that everone knows about, then Burton-in-Kendal that's actually not in Kendal but about 12 miles or so south. We were collecting an awning that Eirene spotted…

Sophie's Cache- FIRE side chat
Sat at a friends house. Its dark, we've got a outside fire on and the kids are on the trampoline. Sangria, cake, comfy seats made from wood. Conversation. Last of the summer wine. Rolling Stones. Butterflies. Other…
Odd dogness and Bronica shotsElsie dog (pictured above) did a weird thing at 04:14 this morning. She started barking incessantly. This is exceptionally weird as she hardly ever barks - most dogs that are bread as a gun dog (like Elsie was) do not…
- Daren the taxi driver / artist
We should all encourage my old friend, (yes old) to add more to his new blog : ** 60000 miles per year . ** He's an actual artist - an award winning Fine artist of a brilliant calibre ( par exemple ) who is undoubtedly…
First day - AOK!Well - I've completed day 1 at my new job. Lots of learning, reading, filling stuff in, and meeting people. Such a difference from my last job. For one, I can walk to the office in 11 minutes instead of driving for 45…
Jaygo won the fossil competitionIt's my last day of the summer school holidays - the kids are still off for a bit. It's been a blast. Highlights would be -…

Chapeaumont Souterraine - Abandoned underground quarry / bunker / chapel.Jay and I went geocaching this morning. The cache itself was pleasant enough - a short hike up a woodland bridal-way lead us to a quiet but unusual spot at the intersection of five wide, well trod dirt tracks. We did…
- Blogging with a 3G Kindle
I always travel with a kindle. Back in 'The day' - the hitchhiking, ultra budget travelling days of youth, a backpack represented my entire worldly material whole. Everything had to fit into the backpack including…
WaitingAs I sit here, typing this blog, I'm waiting for two things. The first being Felix. He wanted to do his own thing today - he'd made some friends and wanted to go laser questing (a game they've got here that's a bit like…
- Beautiful fish, Tacky magic
My hand didn't hurt that much today thankfully. It's bandaged up tight - I've got fingertips and a bit of thumb poking out. It's my left hand by the way, which makes life especially tricky, being left handed. Eirene…
- Second degree burns!
I am typing this with one hand as I have just got back in from a French A&E after doing myself a mystery. Whilst starting to cook tea - a very simple omelet - just after I had got the oil to smoking hot, I dipped a…
Our LodgeWe're staying at Berny Riviere, about an hour or so's drive north east of Paris. It's a resort where several hundred static caravans are parked as well as scores of caravans and tents and a handful of two story lodges.…
